Wizz Air UK has restarted flights from Gatwick Airport, following the latest lifting of government restrictions on air travel.

The airline has already begun its route to Athens from the London hub, with plans to resume services to Malta from May 28 as well as Lanzarote and Malaga from June 7.

“We’re excited to be finally welcoming passengers back onboard our brand-new Airbus A321neo aircraft at Gatwick Airport, as they travel on their long-awaited sunshine breaks,” said Owain Jones, managing director of Wizz Air UK. “Passengers can rely on our flexible booking policies, our stringent health and hygiene measures and excellent onboard service. We look forward to gradually restarting more low-fare routes from Gatwick as the summer gets underway.”

Destinations including Krakow, Budapest and the Canary Islands are also expected to be added to the carrier’s schedule.

Last week (May 18), Wizz announced that operations from its new base at Cardiff Airport are due to begin in June, including services to Corfu, Alicante and Lanzarote.
