X-Plane: Configuring Controls - Part 1

A hints and tips guide

Following on from our previous tutorial on how to install third-party add-ons, this issue we are going to take a look at setting up joystick controllers.

A correct setup can greatly enhance your virtual flying experience.

While configuring the controls correctly is an essential step in achieving a realistic flying experience, this has been a somewhat challenging and long-winded process in previous versions of X-Plane. Thankfully the introduction of the new UI (User Interface) in version 11 has gone a long way in making this process a much more intuitive and user-friendly experience. Laminar Research has also continued to refine the UI, adding excellent new features for setting up the controls, which we are going to investigate further in this tutorial.
