Yakutat was an important military airport for transport aircraft between Washington State and Elmendorf Air Force Base during World War Two. Today, it sees scheduled services from an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-700 as well as being a base for general aviation traffic due to the scenic views and excellent river fishing.
