On the 20th of this month I will be flying on my first 747 to RIAT (Fairfoid airshow). The flight is about 15 mins long, departing from LHR at 8:30am.

Is there anyway that I can find out what plane I will be on... example --- will I be on G-CIVA of B or C and so on?

If anyone can tell me or point me in the direction of where to find out, i would be most greatful.

Many Thanks in advance. :)

Hi Andrew

The specific aircraft probably won't be allocated for some time yet, but if you can let me have a flight number I'll keep an eye on it at work and see if I can get you a registration nearer the time.

1L I get my tickets out tomorrow and post the flight number.

Monster, I agree, but its something unusual to do... fly to Fairford (not far from Wales) from London, on a b747... :) Its just gotta be done! :D

hi '330'
as of yesterday (sat 12th) its IVP allocated to the Saturday Fairford charter and NLM on the Sunday... obviously things may change before next weekend.. its planned to be a Lo-J (ie more economy) 747-400... enjoy it anyway!

I was planning to do the 747 flight to Fairford but my health at the moment dictates otherwise...

I suspect that the fact they have got 'union flag' tails is part of the criteria for selecting the a/c... we don't mention 'the other tails' anymore!!!

i'm not back at work to get an update before the weekend but enjoy RIAT... wish I was going.

Believe me Monster500 when you say its hardly worth getting airborne, you would be only too happy to go in if it meant avoiding the gigantic security queues to get in last year. I rather foolishly thought that by camping as I have done on many previous occasions that I would wake up and just saunter in thereby avoiding all the traffic but I could not believe the size of the queues for the security check. There was no control and many people were walking to the front and pushing in. I will miss it this year as I am in Saudi but I can't wait to see the first reports.
