In a quieter moment during the festive period, I have been reading up on the T.21's built by Martin Hearn at Hooton Park. Part of an ongoing, on and off project of mine to see what airframes with history to the site still exist.

A quick google search turned up this link documenting giving a very potted history of each airframe and current status - http://rcawsey.co.uk/t21.htm

Of the 19, I would like to try and find out what happened to these three airframes -

WB976 - "Crashed after elevator linkage failed, Crowland 1.7.95"
WB983 - "Cancelled"
WB986 - "Stored at East Kirkby?"
(copied from the website mentioned above)

Do they still exist in some shape or form, or have all gone to the the great hangar in the sky?

Cheers,
Jon

John - a subject that has long fascinated me as well -coupled with the production of other Slingsby types by Martin Hearn. Hope you have some luck finding the fates!

Thanks for the words of encouragement David :)

Its one of those things that I suspect will go on for ever and a day! I just tend to look into things as and when they pop up in conversation etc

The T.21's having cropped up recently after The Aeroplane Collection (TAC) acquired the remains of T.21B BMU, 1085, 9G-ABD

Would be nice to have a genuine HP built machine one day though!

The photo reminds me of the one we use to have, which was built by Leighton Park school. It went to Poland with another one from Camphill. We just had to much other glider work to do, even more now.

WB983/BGA 3175 was owned by the Altair Gliding Club at Edgehill/Shenington. Last C of A lapsed in 1991.

WB986/BGA 3265 was last owned by Gerry Traves at East Kirkby; C of A lapsed in 1997.

No idea where they are now. . .

MH007 was out of the air last time I saw it after a landing accident. It was under repair and might well be airworthy now.

Coo...

WB975 logged quite a few flights in it at Kirknewton and even more time towing it to the flight line in a grotty yellow air portable landy from either the hangar or where it landed after a supposed spot landing.

G-CKNN (MH.012) was cancelled from the UK register last year. Don't know why. May have reverted to BGA marks?

MH.015 has also been quoted for BGA.4877 now flying in Spain as WB988.

WB976 MH003 Crowland 18.6.95 55mins flight
I do also believe that it was the last flight.

After this flight a week later she came down.
Lucky both pilots survived
I can't tell you where she ended up I'm afraid as i dont have that information
But i remember her at Crowland from a very young age owned by Richard Kilham
Later to be owned by Richard Sharman
Who is P1 in this pic
Sadly it's the only one I have but hope that give you a little history of MH003

This aircraft was sold to Bob van Aalst later on, and he put it on the Dutch register as PH-201 in May 2011. It is now based at Asperden/Goch (Germany).

He has another one, I think? I have a flight in BGA.3225 with his daughter many years ago. Don't know if it had an RAF serial.
*edit* nevermind, googled it :) MH019/ WB993/ BGA 3225/ PH-201, same aircraft :)

He does have a motorized T31, a T8 and T30 though. He too has been greatly bitten by the Slingsby bug. Owners can't seem to have any less than three... ;-)
