Does anyone have any photos/info that I can put on my webpages of replica Spitfires either flying or being built to fly??

All contributions gratefully received.

Firstly apologies for the quality and lack of source of this image. I have had it skulling around for a few years
It shows a pseudo Spitfire replica comprising a tubular space frame draped with an aluminium shell that I suspect freestands and will lift off. The engine is a Griffon 57/58 with bearer from a Shackleton.
This is serious stuff and in the 'MB-5' league. I confess it captures my imagination a touch more than a scale replica with a 'Spam Can' engine.
It must be in the US.
Anybody know any more about this exciting project ?

There was an article on the Mk26 in Septembers Pilot, and some information on 5 other replicas. If only I had £63500......

Interesting stuff! I'm presuming it's a flyer??

I'll keep it on file until we know more about it - or if I have enough space for it! (The problem with free webspace - you don't get enough of it! :()

Daz,

The engineering and the environment are clearly indicative that this is a flying project. If it had actually flown I think we would have heard about it.

I am not sure what a Mk26 is but this Griffon monster must not be confused with the full scale Allison powered Spitfire replica that looks like it needs it's prop dia reduced manually before the ground does it for them.

If you have a look at my page, there's another full-scale replica being built by the Spitfire Aircraft Co, powered by an Allison
