-Could it be a box/cage for the carrier pigeons!

-Looks a bit big.
Here's one from a Halifax complete with flak damage

-Does Paul Daniels know you have it? Aren't the holes for sticking swords through?

-I have to agree with Moggy here. It doesn't match the standard pigeon carrier and I've not seen images of any other pigeon container that resembles this object. So, I can understand the reasoning, but I don't think it's pigeon related. Any other sensible suggestions?

-Could it perhaps be something to cover a meteorological instrument on a ground installation?

Update, if it was then it would be painted white

-I am sorry to insult your intelligence but how do you know or what gives you the impression its an aeronautical/airfield object?
Where was it found please?
Brian.

I don't think it's a Stevenson screen either. These are normally louvered and painted white and this is neither of these.
Is there any possibility that it might have something to do with a Vampire? I may be making false assumptions, but being wood I wondered if there is anything inside or connection with two-seat Vampires that looks like this. Any ideas?

-No, it isnt Vampire, or Mosquito.
I think the shape at the back might give us a clue. Can you post a picture from the other end?

As requested. One from the side and one from the back, showing an internal view. I hope these help.

Another mystery item for you guys to rack your brains over. This is a wooden box with a sliding hatch at the front and ventilation holes on the side and top/base (depending on which way up it goes).
This does seem reminiscent of a radio rack, but I've never seen one made of wood. Even with ventilation holes, it would seem a bit of a fire hazard! It does seem quite crude, so may be something to do with ground equipment rather than aircraft.
Any suggestions would, as always, be very welcome. Over to you ...
