Does anyone have a photograph that clearly shows the underside of John Bradshaw's Provost G-AWPH? I am hoping to build a model of this aircraft, have so far been unable to unearth one, and would be most grateful for help in this matter.

Well, I've built mine to represent G-AWPH circa 1983. Underside of wings were black overall, with black flaps and ailerons. Underside of tail surfaces were red with black elevators. Underside of fuselage is red also. Not sure if this has changed over the years. If you Google image "Provost G-AWPH", there are quite a few images available. Hope this helps...

PS. I imagine that you must have bought the S&M decal sheet too?? :)

Thank you for your help Steve. Ive seen that decal sheet on the Hannants site, but the scheme does not represent the aircraft as I remember it. Your description certainly does. As far as I remember, and can make out from the photos I have seen, the registration only appears on the port wing on the undersides, can you confirm this?

Once again, thank you for your help.

According to the CAA G-INFO site the aircraft is still registered to him.

G-AWPH has been registered to John Bradshaw since 06 Sept 68 and has a C of A valid until 21 Aug 12.

Amazed to see it at an airshow in Luxembourg in '94. Haven't seen it since.

Hi Sideslip;

I was looking at modelling the aircraft from the same period too. The photo's I have suggest that during this time, the reg was indeed only carried under the port wing. One other important point is that most of the photo's I have from the early 80's appear to show the reg in silver, not white as supplied by the decal company. Maybe they are white these days. Also, I printed off a decal sheet full of GWAD "teddies", as G-AWPH carried these on her tail around this time. If you need a couple, I'd be happy to send you some.

Glad to be of some help...

Thank you very much for your offer of GWAD teddies, although my only slide of the aircraft, taken at the 1986 North Weald Fighter Meet, shows it without teddies so I won't be putting them on the model. I think you're right about the silver registration.
It seems to one of those aircraft that is so well known, yet so rarely seen. Despite nearly 40 years of going to airshows I have probably only seen it about 4 or 5 times.
I think now that I have enough information to begin 'wrenching from the sprue, and squirting the glue'
Once again, thank you very much for your help.

Michael
