Any ideas as to what this is? It doesn't look very aeronautical, but I'm pretty sure it is RAF. Certainly, it has a military arrow on it, but the number beside it means nothing to me. There are a number of valves inside, but no other clue as to use or function. Over to you guys and any suggestions very welcome!

I think you'll find that it is the mounting base for a 16mm cine projector. LF & HF controls being in effect the tone controls for the sound. It was called a Debris, a french name, though I'm not sure of the spelling. The curvature allowed for the optics to be tilted to suit the screen position. It was itself mounted on three heavy cast iron legs. Certainly still in use at Waddington in 1980 and probably long after that.

Its not some kind of old film equipment is it Ian??

Just with the Mic and Film knobs below the number. Also L/F H/F and what looks like P/O right at the end.

Looks more post war than wartime too.

Number more than likely a stores reference.

Look forward to hearing everyone's views on what it is. Someone must surely know.

Thanks very much for the responses, TerryP in particular. You're spot on! Thanks to your information I did some searching and found the attached image, which shows this object is clearly an amplifier (the compact version, I think) for a Debrie 16mm projector. I wouldn't have known where to begin to identify this one, so thanks very much indeed for your help.

Any chances you have the rest of the projector lying around in storage somewhere??

Looks like a nice piece with a little resto.

I'm going to have a look, but there are certainly other pieces elsewhere. I just need to match them up!
