Iron Sky

Loved it, awesome film

What is neat are the little references to other films & MeMe's, for example a scene is acted out that is reminiscent of a scene from a Downfall parody, which is quite apt as one of the movie stars - Götz Otto is in both films & a famous Dr Strangelove scene is played out.

Watch it & enjoy it, but only those with a liking for the bizarre & unusual, with sense of humour to match need apply, in other words, if you don't like it, the problem is you not the film :D

The first 4 minutes- Iron Sky

The Bourne Supremacy

Matt Damon is back as everyone's favourite amnesiac assassin, this time coming after his former employers after he is framed for murder. Excellent stuff, although the shaky-cam lets it down somewhat. 8/10

The Bourne Ultimatum

Matt Damon completes his ass-kicking trilogy by discovering the truth behind his CIA training. 8/10

Not all that keen on the idea of a new "sequel", mind...

Charlotte's Web

Charming film about a pig who wants to see his first Christmas, and a spider who wants to help him. About the ONLY Julia Roberts film I can stomach! 6/10

The Notebook

So-so melodrama about a man (James Garner) trying to help his first love regain her memories of their relationship. Predictable but watchable, if nothing else. 6/10

War Horse. A great film, I watched it with wife daughters and a few friends, there were tears with all the women, very touching film, but look who directed it.
10 out of 10 worth every penny (Sky).

Baz. I saw my 1st 3d when I was a kid, on Sat mornings when it was kids only. Cant remember what the title of the film was though.I guess it's come a long way since those days, remember the icecream lady with her tray of icecream and lollies;)

Prometheus

The long-awaited prequel to Ridley Scott's sci-fi classic.

Felt it lacked anything in the way of tension - which the original had in spades - and the reveal of the creature was way too late to have had any real impact on the storyline. Although the xenomorph prototype did look rather good. 6/10

Super 8

Still can't make my mind up about this one, but I can't help but think this was a big-budget, but ****-poor, imitation of E.T. 4/10

Shaun of the Dead

An outright classic. Still funny as hell. 9/10

Appropriate Adult
Shown here in one sitting on the Sundance Film channel.

The West case creeps me out, it somewhat reminds me of the Canadian Bernardo case. It seems a bit hard to believe that the authorities would leave a non-professional in a room alone with West given his ability to play mind-games with people.
The chap that played West gets 4 stars.

Prometheus

Saw this today by accident realy, I thought Red Tails was out :o
Visually impressive but not a lot happens. I should have watched the Avengers or Men In Black :)

Prometheus
Very good film, but i so wanted it to be a great film. Not sure it lives up to the hype or expectations .I really need to see it a few more times on DVD.
It's been a couple of days since i saw this and on reflection they should not have tried to connect it to the Alien story but set it in it's own fictional universe.
Nice try Ridley but no cigar this time. 7/10

Interestingly enough, I reacquainted myself with Sir Ridley's first effort, Alien, last night. Having seen Prometheus the day before, I felt a better appreciation of the 1979 movie.

Then I followed it with the pure ass-kickery that is Aliens.

War Horse
Great film, great story and some excellent special effects.
There were times in the movie where I appeared to have something in my eye... 10/10

The Woman In Black
Horror starring Daniel Radcliffe as a young lawyer who travels to a remote village, where he discovers that a vengeful ghost is terrorising the locals.
Not too scary, although there are some "jump" moments. 9/10

Beauty and the Beast

Disney's classic, which I strangely felt was merely "OK"...!

10 Things I Hate About You

Surprisingly good teen comedy based on Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. 8/10

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

UK seniors go to India...some are searching for something (or someone), some like it, while others hate it.
It's tempting to say it's Outsourced with OAPs, but that wouldn't give credit to a great group of actors. Judy Dench and Maggie Smith are outstanding...it's filled with a bus load of actors "of a certain age". Depending on your age, you may not like it, but your mum will.
8/10.

Red Tails

Despite the misgivings regarding the film on various historic aircraft forums, it actually was not that bad. OK, so the story is a bit cliched and the dialogue a bit naff in places, but the aerial scenes were really very good - for once someone in the effects department paid attention to how a fighter plane is supposed to move!

Actually, if you ignore the real historic aspects, and accept the film as "inspired by true events" (namely that there WAS a group of Afro-American fighter pilots nicknamed The Red Tails), and can just sit back and enjoy the action setpieces, then you'll really like it.

The Blue Max

Spectacular 1960s WW1 epic. Great battle scenes and a decent storyline. 7/10

The Dawn Patrol

Errol Flynn and David Niven biff the Boche whilst battling to keep their nerves and friendship intact, whilst commander Basil Rathbone puts up with the demands of leadership. Excellent, excellent film. 8/10

On the big screen for the first time.

And it was EPIC!!

Like seeing it brand-new in 1975. It really felt as though I had never seen the film before - and not 500+ times in the space of 25 years!

Crystal clear picture and sound - and I was literally on the edge of my seat come the finale! :D
