Absolutely stunning, and in a colour scheme researched by a forum member; http://www.controller.com/listingsdetail/aircraft-for-sale/DEHAVILLAND-DH-115/1958-DEHAVILLAND-DH-115/1234377.htm? Rob

I think its a touch on the expensive size when compared to other jets on the market.

More than the Vampire trainers that currently reside in the UK do?

Rob, Was the researcher a Cosworth employee? ;-) Nice jet, the T11/55 being my favourite of the Spidercrab varieties! Would like to ride in one, one day....

Think you had better ask Mr Howard that one yourself :p. But personally i've always liked the Admirals Barge colour scheme. And as for the asking price, well, while i'm gracing the skies in it most of you lot will be stuck on terra-firma, and STILL saving for your own airworthy Spit :D On a more serious note, i wonder if there are many other airworthy Vamps with live bang seats. Pretty sure the North Weald T.11 hasn't, or is that because its in the UK? Rob

I think after the JP incident at North Weald all those years ago the view from MB and the CAA was that seats should be live.

Interesting, thanks DB. So can anyone confirm or not about the NW T.11's seats being inert, or the Classic flights T.55? Rob

Not quite a Vampire but I know the Airbase Venoms have live seats.

Thanks Martin. Understandable i guess, given the types extra performance. Rob

No, am not on commission from Cosworth. The aircraft only received these temporary markings in 2009 when it was first entered into the Reno Races. It'll be a shame to see it go - I never got to physically see the end result.

I recall that the MD of Cosworth is good mates with the owner. I dont think the price is a million miles off - especially with a good spare engine, and plenty of other stuff to keep it going. Bruce

Didn't take much detecting as on favourites, as is this, more vague but essentially the same conclusion from CAA PDF, Sec 5 Para 4, http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/33/CAP632.PDF

We also all have to remember that asking prices do not necessarily equal selling prices!

Absolutely - but for an aircraft designed (largely) during WW2, one has to compare the price with a similar piston fighter. Looks like good value to me! Bruce

The killer with these jets is the fuel burn ! Looking at the numbers of these flying pretty much shows them to be on the slide .
