-You used to be able to have it charged on a credit card each issue.
Precision Shooting disapears and International Air Power Review returns .
One magazine that was published in the 1960's until now then "poof!" gone.
I do sincerely hope that International Air Power Review succeeds with vol 28 and wish the best for them in the New Year.

I think here are many who will be more than glad if IAPR will return to a regular basis but - even in mind of what happened to his wife - does this also include "as an author I'll be among the first to receive my still open paiments ?!" :confused:

-I thought of subscribing to International Air Power, Air Forces Monthly etc but for what you get it's just not worth it. But that's just my opinion because I'm only interested in particular topics of aviation. Also, what area I am interested in there seems a bit too much coverage of, which is the F-35 programme, okay if you're into it but not always so if you're interested in a wide variety of military aviation. So I find myself popping into WHSmiths and flicking through a magazine to see if it's worth buying. They're too predictable. Last time I bought a copy I was really interested in was late last year.
But that's just me I suppose.

The problem with aviation mags is you can find far more photos, and a HELL of a lot more up-to-date, ACCURATE coverage online if you know where to look.
The printed format is still pleasant physically, but that IMO is pretty much the only thing they have going for themselves.

The same goes for most magazines, I used to rely quite a bit on magazines for the kind of work I do, but now I just pop online to find information. Or just get directly in touch with say like, Fender, Gibson or whom ever if I need to find out something.

I buy the odd magazine for general pleasant reading that I think might come in handy for future reference, especially when it comes to Typhoon. The likes of Jon Lake, Jamie Hunter & what have you tend to report things that takes the official Eurofighter website weeks, months to report, maybe never at all. So they still have their good points. But I suppose aeroplane makers would prefer someone else to report what they've done, circle of friends & all.

Of course you can print off the net for a permanent copy which only costs the x tens of dollars for paper and ink, especially color ink.
Decades ago when this was all new I met many of the person hyping the wonderful thing that would replace print because it was soooooooo cheap.
I laughed at them then and I still do but nowadays even persons at the computer stores say that saving money is not the strong point of computers.

-Has there been any movement regarding IAPR, issues #27, #28, etc?
I dearly love the mag, as do my kids (it puts them to sleep and I can enjoy just chilling)

-Anyone heard anything more about IAPR? I have a complete set of World Air Power Review, Wings of Fame and the airliner one (I've forgotten its name) as well as IAPR up to issue 28. It's a year now since we were told issue 28 was imminent.

I was suprised to get a letter today (dated Dec 11th) asking me to renew and advising that Vol 28 was going to the printers late this month.
There is an apology and brief outline of the sad reasons behind the problems, with an assurance that it was back on its quarterly publishing schedule.
I don't think I can bring myself to pay the 109 Dollars for one year in advance though ?:eek:
