Four tugs to start another salvage attempt in the afternoon
On Feb 1 the "Ciudad de Cadiz" has been moved closer to open waters amid attempts to refloat it. Four commercial tugs tried to pull the stricken vessel from the sand at Salisbury Bank, Mostyn, Flintshire at the 2.15 p.m. during high tide. The vessel was moved closer to open waters and further attempts were to be made on Feb 2, during high tide at 2.35 p.m. The vessel was in an upright and safe position and there is no danger to the Environment. On Jan 31, tugs already had managed to pull the ship enough for it to be moved to deeper water where it will remain until more favourable weather conditions. The Department of Transport’s Maritime Salvage and Intervention Team was monitoring the situation, but as there was no evidence of damage to the hull, the risk of pollution was esteemed to be very low. Liverpool coastguard said that if the vessel was not refloated during the current high tides then it would be several weeks before the boat could be moved.

-Went down to have a look and take some photos, tide was in so could not get any of her sitting on the sand. No damage done thankfully, so just the lost time to catch up on, feel sorry for the crew, there must be a hell of a lot of better ports to get stuck in. It was freezing there this afternoon.
