World War II Online; Battleground Europe has been around for 12 years and STILL runs on code created when it was still in alpha code!

The unique aspect of this game is a fully combined arms environment on the still largest fully useable game map ever produced (all the terrain is accessible with 3D objects throughout, not a flat featureless image).

The flight sim portion of it uses performance curves instead of tables (a la IL-2) that lend some realistic flight characteristic.

The time period of this game is also unique, generally from 1939 to 1943, incorporating a few unit types rarely modeled in other games.

Currently they offer FREE PLAY, which is limited to a handful of units.

A new trailer was produced to showcase its world.

They are also going for Steam Greenlight, so far in top 10% of applicants for last 2 months (every vote helps, must be Steam member to do so).

A reenactment of the Battle of Britain, the 70th anniversary, was done and posted earlier in this forum..

Here is list of just aircraft units (details of rank and tier structure organized here), double that in ground targets,... I mean playable units.

(fighter / fighter bomber)
Hawker Hurricane Mk I
Curtiss H-75
Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-1

Yes, it is dated, has a number of graphic issues, a few old 3D models and dated cockpit graphics, yet still high playability. It is worth spending some time playing and learning good ACM tactics. Each fighter has unique characteristics and one needs to adjust for maximum advantage.

See you on the battlefield!

I think the recruiter pointed you in the wrong direction.

Could be worse.
