Nice to see that beautiful aircraft under African skies.
Antonov An-74TK-100 of Russian company UTair operating under contract with United Nations.
Probably the aircraft used in peace-keeping operations in Republic of Mali in 2013.

Sudan receives first Su-24 attack aircraft

The Sudanese Air Force has increased its ground attack capabilities by acquiring Sukhoi Su-24 'Fencer' aircraft.

The acquisition has been confirmed by DigitalGlobe satellite imagery, which shows that the first Su-24 arrived at the Wadi Sayyidna (Seidna) Air Base north of Khartoum between 8 February and 18 March. Three of the distinctive swing-wing supersonic strike aircraft were visible at the air base in satellite imagery taken in June and August.

The presence of the Su-24s at Wadi Sayyidna was first reported by the Secret-difa3 blog on 18 August. The website said the aircraft had been recently retired by Belarus. Before the Belarusian Air Force announced the retirement in February, it listed 25 Su-24MK as being in its inventory, along with 12 Su-24MR reconnaissance variants.

Secret-difa3 also claimed that Belarus had begun delivery of a second batch of Su-25 'Frogfoot' attack aircraft to Sudan. The first batch was delivered in 2008-2010 and consisted of 15 aircraft, three of which were two-seat Su-25UB versions.

In a report released in February, the UN panel of experts that monitors the arms embargo on Darfur said Sudan had deployed some of its Su-25s to that region in contravention of Security Council Resolution 1591.

The Sudanese Air Force may now be in a position to redeploy these aircraft as it could use the superior speed of the Su-24s to carry out ground-attack sorties over Darfur from air bases outside the region.

The UN panel of experts report also included documentation showing that Belarus has shipped 3,998 S-8 air-to-ground rockets to Sudan in 2011; 2,748 were the S-8DM fuel-air-explosive version of the 80 mm rocket, the rest S-8KO anti-armour variants.

While the report said the rockets were intended to be used with Sudan's Su-25 aircraft, they could also be fired from the new Su-24s and other Soviet-designed jets and helicopters.
