I know this may be a bit off-topic but what is with the Victor's door? It looks a bit over-engineered to me.

It's a little discrete. Higher resolution here:

Discrete but with a lot of allusions for this HAF Mirage 2000.

this is the reason it is discreet, otherwise the entire nose and fuselage would be full of it.

Or when HAF Mirage 2000 meet TURAF F-16 and "incident" must remain discreet. :)
Of course, THIS IS NOT a killmark !

Rear crew did not have ejection seats and the door helped them get out in flight

F-106A 58-0772 of the 171st FIS, Michigan ANG. This artwork was only on the aircraft for a VERY short time. The 171st flew Sixes from 1972 to 1978 (and a sad day it was when they left Selfridge ANGB).

I had a friend some years back from Michigan that's father flew F-106's back in the day. I don't think he was stationed at either Selfridge or K.I. Sawyer AFB. If, memory serves me he also flew F-102's and F-15's at the end of his career.

The #220 wore a killmark (Turkish Flag) on its nose for few days. It was obviously found as too much of a provocation even in Greece.

Not the best picture I've ever seen (Turkish flag is hardly distinguishable) but such rarity is tasteful.
Many thanks MSphere.
Fortunately, Turkey and Greece are allies in NATO : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpmwjdcGCG0#t=32
