Welcome aboard, and thanks for putting your side across.
I really wish you all the best with this project, and hope it comes to fruition as a flying Q6 sometime.
I hope you're not seething from Seething though:)

May I second that. It would be truly wonderful to see the Q6 in the air again.
Very best wishes with the project............

Thank-you Herbert85, that is exactly what I wanted to know, no more and no less! The very best of luck with it and I look forward to the day it flies. Sounds like she is being well looked after.

Percival Q-6 G-AFFD
No I am not Seething from Seething but I am the one that is putting hand in pocket. It should be remembered that this aircraft had been on the market when in the Isle of Man for a considerable period of time - unsold - At my expense I recovered the aircraft, covered all storage and all restoration works since that time. Worth just a thought, in most restorations of this type for every £1 spent it can be expected that about 50 pence will ever be recovered from a sale of the completed aircraft, need to be pretty foolish with money to undertake this type of restoration.
It is believed to be the last remaining example, was the first production model, was impressed into RAF service and servived, crashed on its first flight after rebiuld (1954?) last flown 1955
Is being rebuilt to fly, not for a museum piece, this takes time. Not the first aircraft, other projects completed DH-81-A, DH-89-A, Waco YKS-7, Miles Messenger to name but a few

Herbert85......... Great to hear the project is safe hands. Rebuilds of this type are a "labour of love" and sadly to many much less than appealing than "war birds". I applaud your efforts in saving a 1930s British classic.
If I were a wee bit closer to Seething I would volunteer my services.
Again, the very best wishes for the success of the project......

Great news
Herberts post is the best thing I have read all day ,all year!! I have been following this thread with interest as I have some knowledge of the Q6 project but would rather that its current status comes from the horses mouth so to speak then from someone ie me with little current Q6 knowledge. I well know from my own experiences the trials and tribulations in putting together old wooden airframes, that the costs will always outweigh any sale value. But we do it for the love of it and in my case the chance to relive my wonderful early childhood memories! Its an addiction and I applaud all efforts by group who are working together with the sole aim to return to the sky a classic British light aircraft. Be it a Miles, Percival or D.H. variant suddenly for the first time in decades the future indeed for these types and others looks rosy. Herbert do come across to Great Oakely and see for yourself what were up to I will certainly make it to Seething sometime this year and wish you well with the Q6. Onwards and Upwards!!

Hi all, an update on the Percival Q6
The main landing gear and engine frames have been stripped, bead cleaned and inspected and have been powder coated. These are all assembled and re-fitted to the centre wing section using all new hard-wear. New tyres and tubes have been fitted, wheels have been overhauled, brakes have been re-lined. flaps ready to install having been re-built. Centre section wood-work completed and repaired as required. Fuselage wood-work should be completed in the very near future. It is expected that the wing will be "married" to the fuselage in the next few weeks.
Both engine bay fire-walls are scrap and new will be fabricated just as soon as I find the drawings - I have a near complete set of drawing - in excess of 2600 !!!!! so it takes some looking through.
The aircraft will be painted in a military colour scheme but not sure which one yet as it appears the aircraft was painted in three different schemes.
We are working on the engines again these are being overhauled to "zero" hours

If she were mine, I'd choose to return her to one of the civilian colour schemes that she's borne in the past. But she isn't mine and he who pays the piper calls the tune!

Come on herbert85. It only takes time and money(according to some). Our current stack of projects are being slowly whittled at. (Proctor, Gemini, Messenger, Moth Major, Tiger Moth,Auster) The Summer weather has now arrived and the Dragon,Fox Moth,Moth Monor, L4A Cub, Auster and Tigers are ready to go. May I wish you all the best in your restoration of such an iconic and beautiful machine. Per my previous post, if there is anything I can provide or make for you please contact.
