Did anyone else attend the RAFA Shoreham Airshow last weekend? I've been visiting since 1999 and for me, this was the best show they've put on. A heavy emphasis on historic aircraft and a wonderful atmosphere make this one of the gems in the British airshow calendar. I can't recommend it enough! Highlights included the wonderful DH Dragonfly, a sequence involving Gladiator/Hurricane Mk.I and Spitfire Mk.I and a big D-Day warbird set-piece.

My comprehensive review of the airshow, together with some lovely photographs (not mine, I must add!), can be found via the link below.

I attended on Saturday and I must admit I thought it was one of the best air shows I've been to.

Unfortunately the Gladiator didn't fly because of the cross wind, but the variety of planes, and the class of flying was excellent.

I enjoyed the commentary, with some comic routines from the guest Tiger Moth commentator, and quite a few pauses where one was left to hear the beauty of the display without the constant chatter.

They even had large scale RC flying, which culminated in a large RC Extra flying with a full size. A very entertaining display.

I have always enjoyed Shoreham, but this year they did rather excel!

Having seen the display from a distance, my impression was there were too many Spitfires. :dev2:
Of the items that flew over, I particularly liked the Mitchell.

Best one yet!! The main commentator seemed less self-indulgent this year too which was a nice change, The D-Day scenario was pretty awesome! I was also rather impressed with the Vulcan display, there were a couple of times where it turned so sharply I thought the pilot was going to roll it!

I love how many WW2 era types they manage to get there!

And for an extra treat the Strikemaster flew really low and loud over me and Dad while we were fishing on the Monday after!

Can't fault the show at all, there was something for everyone! (except maybe the helicopter enthusiasts)

It was indeed a good airshow, it also could have been remarkably better as quite a few display aircraft seemed to go tech and not either attend or be able to fly.
