Indeed.
The repaint looks to be based on the 1944 photo of MJ627 published on p.50 of the September 2014 issue of FlyPast.
(Note the code correction).

-I wonder if they were hand painted on? I have read of the paint being wet when the crews walked out to them, and they had been put on in the dark with rollers...
