Whilst looking for 'Gordy's' Hurricane shots I happened across a couple of my negatives dated 1967 Henlow that looked interesting.

These would be two static examples obtained very early on, principally to plaster mould for the GRP replicas.

I'm guessing this was the winter of 67/68.....? Judging by the Mk1 Ford Zephyr with T&C rear tyres and salt stained bodywork (which had probably rotted into oblivion by the mid 70's)

Fascinating stuff, thank you for posting, Mark12!

I love the way the Zephyr has apparently been parked by Braille.

Not sure how many were made but a lot seem to be at Hawkinge!

I think one was at the old North Weald Museum along with a rep Hurricane from the film, or my mind deceives me in old age.

I do not know the number but would estimate between 20-30 of the various types..plus some were specials, motors etc.

Very nice and interesting pictures.

What always puzzled me was why the Spitfire replicas were not as accurate and seemed far less convincing in comparison to the Hurricanes and Buchons!

Cheers

It seems the Buchon replicas were not built with cowling as a real 109 with a DB engine looks.
