This is our "Phil", he adopted us about five years ago. He cost us an absolute fortune in vets bills last year.
Lovely cat though. Once he gets on my lap in the evening, he is out for the count.

This wee guy used to live in my mum's back garden - he didn't have the nicest of owners, and spent months hanging out under the decking.

I used to leave food out for him, and it took a good three weeks for him to get used to me enough to not run away whenever he saw me.
I eventually got him to the stage where he would come into the house and be comfortable enough to stay indoors for short periods.
Unfortunately, his owners(!) had him shipped off to the cat rescue. Despite my best efforts, I couldn't take him on myself, but thankfully he did eventually find a new owner. This photo shows him in his new home:

Our "Phil" was one such cat, which appeared on our back door step, when his owners chucked
him (and others) out. It was during a cold snowy winter about five years ago, when our previous
cat was on his last legs.

I am not a pet owner but enjoyed the company of a dog and several cats as a child. But I understand the strength of feeling engendered between owner and pet. I think is is worse than irresponsible rather than just a shame when owners are no longer prepared to accept responsibility for their pets. Having a pet is a responsibility and too many people seem to regard them as toys, to be dumped when they get bored with them. And I suspect too many adults do not engender that spirit of responsibility in their children.

Cats have the ability to relocate themselves quite satisfactorily if it so enters their head. Plus an uncanny ability eventually to find the 'right' home.

Hi All,
We have had four cats Jessy1, Po,Jessy and Fluffy all passed on now, the last Fluffy passed away almost a year ago now bless her they have the ability to cheer you even when your at your lowest as I am sure do dogs like our Penny.

I'll start with my two boys.
A pair of Maine Coons (half brothers) just over a year old. Rambo (grey) and Merlin (ginger).
Merlin often goes with me in the car and for a treat I take him down the boating lake at Newquay. They are trained to go on the lead, however, Rambo has recently taken to flying up a particular tree near my gaff and sit on a branch 15 - 20ft from the ground.
