Elsewhere in this forum is a thread on the restoration of the old wooden control tower at Weston super Mare where we are looking for new volunteers to help with the wood repairs but the museum is also up to other things thanks to a £138,500 grant towards the costs from the Coastal Communities Fund.
Having finally signed a very long lease for additional land that includes a big chunk of taxiway and aircraft pans, bordering the main road it's now planned to move a couple of the duplicate aircraft to attract visitors and to reassemble the Harrier test aircraft. Part of the new area will also provide new Heliport parking facilities.
Elsewhere we hope to rebuild the old 1940 pilots block and use it for a display of the local aviation heritage, including the manufacturing by BAC of Wartime aircraft and later local production,as well as covering the operational side.Potentially exciting times for aviation enthusiasts in the Somerset area. Good news - more space is welcome. It was bit of a squeeze visiting in a Chinook some years back!!

Should be an interesting day.
