And the next object is...
This was brought into the Jet Age Museum during the GAC employees reunion yesterday. Its donator has no idea of its function... just that he has had it for years.
It appears to have a Gloster Inspection stamp, and the part number stamped on the end bobbin is: A109963.
On the reverse side of this end bobbin is stamped the following number: A76865...(the digits of which, have been overstamped with the small "X" stamp that was used to strike off mods.)
The cable is spliced around the end bobbins; whipped with wax twine, and the central portion is covered with stitched leather. We think this might be a pre-war looped pull handle of some sort; as it seems to be totally over-engineered for any normal purpose such as a panel retaining strap, etc; but any info would be much appreciated.

Could it be something as simple as a canopy pull?

It looks similar to a bungee-sprung undercarriage safety strop. Used only if/when the main u/c springing lets go and preventing the gear leg folding completely and damaging/risking the aircraft. Emergency function only.

Having run through the AP today; it turns out that the cable assembly A109963 is, in fact a Typhoon item. It is identified as the grab handle that is attached to the windscreen frame. All I have to do now is to establish exactly where it is located!

Thanks for the pointers, gents.
