-Sad but true. Cook's form with the bat is returning but his tactical captaincy is non-existent. Jimmy might have got 400 wickets but if you can't bowl the tail out you have no chance.

-The Kiwi's captaincy was certainly very good. McCullum had done is homework on the England team.
They did well.

-The Kiwis are excellent and seem to play the game in a more gentlemanly fashion than has been the trend of late.
However people shouldn't forget that England did win the first test in good fashion. A long way to go for the England team but they are not as bad as current fashion would state.
PS have you seen the 1st ODI score!
By: 9th June 2015 at 17:58 Permalink - Edited 1st January 1970 at 01:00
-Yes!! Incredible.
By: 9th June 2015 at 20:50 Permalink - Edited 1st January 1970 at 01:00
-Well the ODI did not go their way did it!
By: 9th June 2015 at 20:54 Permalink - Edited 1st January 1970 at 01:00
-Nope but what's the betting they win the next!
By: 9th June 2015 at 22:58 Permalink - Edited 1st January 1970 at 01:00
-Doubt it charlie unless we get complacent, Their tail enders really don't like it up them!

-I remain hopeful but not yet convinced. And I am not that optimistic for our chances in the Ashes.

-Tonights ODI ******!

-If ODI's are your bag then any result by D/L is bound to be a disappointment.
Roll on the Ashes!

-I suppose that we're intended to be grateful that CH5 or, whichever, can get the highlights onto TV at midnight.
This, when most of the cricketing pundits are moaning about the decreasing popularity of the sport. If you sell the viewing rights to the highest bidder, thus ensuring exclusivity, you end up losing inclusivity.
Rugby will go the same way.

-Has gone.....?? No doubt we will hear much about the "legacy" of the World Cup for rugger this year. I suspect the effect will be as minimal as that of the 2012 Olympics, which was so lauded but so perfectly lampooned in the TV series.
Sorry wrong thread.....

The Olympic legacy has worked in our neck of the woods. In Hadleigh where the mountain biking took place, there has been a lot of money spent in opening up a little used area. Improved footpaths, cycle tracks, a new visitor centre and cafe.

-That's good to hear but at odds with the overall participation in sports across the board, which had decreased following the initial and inevitable but short lived surge in 2012. The millions of legacy cash .......

-I rather think we have let the Kiwi's down. one of the UKs best friends.
they have possibly the most exciting team in world cricket at present. we give them two tests in May
followed by some 1 day games. all the matches so far this season between eng & NZ have been the
best possible advert for a game that is struggling to survive in real terms.
Shame on the ECB and International cricket authorities. Well played NZ and I am delighted to say.....and well played Eng.
Now play the same way against the Ozzies. And in the Test's Mr Cook..please use some imagination in the field and THINK POSITIVE !

By: 14th June 2015 at 21:38 Permalink - Edited 1st January 1970 at 01:00
-Well, if England's tail had wagged more vigorously we might have had a chance !

-Haven't England just done well!! Big centuries from the skipper and Root.

-Sets up the final game rather nicely. :)
Good to see some resilience in the England side. What with the dl game and this fourth one.
It has got me thinking about the test side and whether some of this one day team should be in contention? Anybody got any thoughts?

Not since the demolition days of Richard Hadlee (Sir) have I seen such a competant Kiwi side. What astonishingly good cricketers.
It won't detract from their performance to declare - pun intended - that England were abysmal. On that showing, the Aussies must already be laughing into their champagne.
