This is a heads up only I will reframe from all comment but I thought like me others may find this interesting concerning Ken Ward and what happened a couple of years ago (which most of us are fully aware about). Ken has been on the aircraft scence for a while and with the fact that he appears in person on this programme in the public domain I feel it is fair enough to post here. But please let's ALL reframe from making any negative comment on here, people can make up there own minds I am sure.

Then what is left to discuss? I doubt I'm going to develop a better and more balanced view of Mr. Ward from watching a Channel 5 documentary!

That is my point - nothing to discuss negative or otherwise, but I am quite certain I am not the only one that found the channel 5 documentary "interesting" your view is your view and mine is mine, I haven't actually made mine known.

With no programme link to refer to I have no idea what all this is about.....

Just google 'Ken Ward neighbour' and all will become clear. Actually, and in the spirit of personal comment, I'm not sure why the thread was started.

Don't start a thread about it then.

Charlie - in short, though I assume you already know a bit of this, Ken Ward scraped together a collection of cockpits somewhere in the North of England. That appears to be the only redeeming quality about somebody who appears to be a fairly disgusting human being.

In short, Renowned military historian Kenneth Ward, 67, was jailed for five years in 2011 after it was revealed he had persistently terrorised his neighbour Mandy Dunford, 54, by following her around her small holding on the North Yorkshire Moors, dressed only in his socks and boots. 6 Apr 2015

Note that he was jailed, so this isn't just idle gossip.

So, the story effectively ended in 2011......but now he's been allowed back but....... "She said: “It means he can follow me around with only the width of a wire fence between us."

I apologise if my warped sense of humour produces a smile at the wording of her remark. Presumably the OP's last comment refers to the rights and wrongs of the variation of the Court Order.

Meddle, not sure why you are having so much trouble seeing the purpose of this thread when the clue is in the title "a heads up" nothing more than that, there are many posts on this forum following a simular purpose so perhaps you should move onto commenting on one of those since you don't seem to grasp the intention of this one at all. Many will know that this has been discussed on here before.

Sorry, redhillwings. But why a 'heads up?' Not needed. Bit tone lowering? I know this is 'General Discussion' but I don't see the need to tell us about the programme. Cheap sensationalist approach to a guy who, having been found guilty and jailed, is pretty odious. Don't have a TV, shan't be watching.

It was originally in Historic, presumably on the basis that the flasher had some vague connection to that part of aviation.

I moved it to here. Far more suitable.

You do him unjust.

Like him or loathe him, and a lot of people weren't impressed with him before his rural antics became general knowledge, he had quite a big connection to historic aviation. There are/were some unique and historic items in his collection that a number of people were deeply worried about when he was arrested. It's still unclear what happened to the collection, was it confiscated and scrapped or is it still in his possession?

There are a lot of unanswered questions around this whole sorry episode, I for one am not going to speculate on them.

What is the problem?? Originally I posted this in historic - post No. 13 explains very well the aviation interest behind the story. If I wanted to give a heads up to a TV doc on the history of rivets then I am entitled to do so and you are perfectly entitled to look at another thread.

He scraped together a few cockpits and other assorted aviation ephemera? Seems like a small corner of the whole picture, as far as Mr. Ward is involved. I also doubt Channel 5 will report on the case remarkably well (the show is called Nightmare Neighbours) and I doubt it will spend much time covering his aviation collection either.

So if it turns out Fred West or Ian Brady built Airfix Lancasters does that immediately make a documentary on their sad lives the subject of a valid Historic Aviation post?

I ask only for future reference.

There is a difference between plastic kits and real aviation heritage.

Well that is one way of missing the point...

Wasn't there some speculation in the 2015 E*AY thread (posts #188 to #201) that some bits were being sold off?

Sorry, but this message looks like it was composed using a translation site. What language was it originally thought of in, and what do you think 'reframe' means in your native tongue?;o)

It's still unclear what happened to the collection, was it confiscated and scrapped or is it still in his possession?

Was his crime connected with his collection or him displaying a little antisocial behaviour and lack of a personal wardrobe? I can't see why they'd confiscate or scrap it - that would be the sort of thing the relatives would do more than the law...
