Indeed ... the trolls have taken over !!

Anyway a bit back to topic even if a decent discussion seems to be impossible here:

Harpia Publishing opened a new page rated to my two books and all updates concerning the PLAAF ... I will add from time to time the latest Orbat-updates; maybe someone's interested: The first three are already up!

you should get rid of that link! it's not cool.
although thanks for the free PDF!
its a compilation of all the pics found on this forum and others, and others peoples analysis.
but remove the link, some people make a living on books.

Yes ... but sadly still with the first cover-proposal we sent to the publisher. The final one is this ....

wow, omg, what happened to this thread. its all about russia vs china again.

The topic is the J 20. A Chinese 5th gen fighter with Russian engines. It is conceivable that there would be discussion about China and Russia here.

The only issue is posters who try and make it about said countries economies.

Interesting that one vent (inlet meshed grid on the side) is occulted by a screwed panel.

Also no stealth paint on that one (I don't see any filler).

Look at other pictures -- there are two of those hexagonal "vents" on each side of the aircraft, and they are fitted on in the same way for all four... Some angles makes one vent look more obvious, because of the slight canting of the intake at that location.

@Blitzo: Perhaps you are right. But the meshing would be really tight.

this angle is actually very nice. the pakfa style splinter camoflage and the light colored edges help break up the large body of the plane into smaller parts that make the plane look much nicer.

so any ideas where the first squadron will be placed? Towards Taiwan? Japan? or Vietnam?

yep, we can see it doesn't use stealth paint..
or at least the same stealth paint as the f-35. it could be using a different kind.
but its closer to the type used by late model f-16s and black rafale.

J-10B has arrived at Zhuhai: I think static display only. 4x PL-12 training rounds on dual-rack pylons.

Is it feasible to put one PL-12 on the intake hardpoint and leave the middle wing pylon for a heavy air to ground munition? Making it more multi role..

They are using the same engraved serrated wedges on the trailing surface as on the Rafale. Same technology, this is for sure.

Some very interesting info.

http://bmpd.livejournal.com/2212133.html

China ordered 224 D-30KP2 engines from Saturn in July 2016, worth about 660 million USD.

Previously China bought 55 D-30KP2 from 2009-2011, and 184 engines of the type from a contract in September 2011.

Since 2009 China has bought 463 D-30KP2 from Saturn.
