Is there actually any point to these videos? The forum is for debate; not endless copying and pasting of You Tube videos.

Not, it seems that anyone is using the forum any more!

Bruce, the apparent lack of forum activity might not be unconnected with an e-mail I received from James Martin about three months ago asking me if I could be 'a little more PC' presumably referring to various brisk exchanges of views then prevalent.

I don't know whether any other contributor received similar advice !

Hey Bruce, have you watched any?

All of these videos are up for debate, but apparently they don't seem to appeal to anyone, perhaps the lack of interest might be a response to the clamp down of free and open debate specifically on this forum due to some moderators, who if I remember, threatened to close it down and restricted patrons from debating here only if they used the other forums as well.

A taint Orwellian aren't we...

The quelling of people who don't follow suit as others are sadly rather more prevalent these days, as shown in college and universities across the nation "no-platforming" of guest speakers, apparently its nearly 4 out of five are! (https://www.theguardian.com/education/2015/feb/02/free-speech-universities-spiked-ban-sombreros)

Still, is this worthy of discussion?

I'm not sure anybody knows what point you're actually trying to make; for example what debate do you hope...

"What happens when Democrats run your state?"

...will start?

I'm not American, I'm pretty sure you're not American, so neither of us have a State nor can either of us vote against (or for) the Democrats as a party to run it. Two minutes into the video a commentator says that California is 'broke' and then starts a diatribe along the lines of 'this is what happens when you let Liberals run your state'!

So what are you suggesting we do about that exactly.....vote Republican, presumably?

Given that you and I can't vote Republican, even if we wanted to (and I don't), what else can we do about it (apart from watching endless, highly partisan, half-truth videos on YouTube designed to scaremonger us into voting for a party we aren't in the right country to vote for)?

How does this relate to UK politics? (Because at least I can vote in the UK.)

Now I don't want Liberals (Democrats) obviously, (not unless I want to end-up like California!)...

...but there isn't a 'Republican' party in the UK to vote for? I suppose the Labour Party has the most 'republican' (anti-monarchy) credentials. Should I vote for them?

Yes, the Labour Party, Britain's Republicans! Down with the monarchy! Down with free healthcare! Hurrah for lower government borrowing! Hurrah for lower taxes! Hurrah for small government! Down with government regulation! Hurrah for free enterprise!

Debate: a formal discussion on a particular matter, in which opposing arguments are put forward.....

It's just lazy and half-hearted to just blitz the forum with videos that push your views, that's not debate. If somebody can't be bothered to actually type and put forward a discussion point I'm not going to waste my time looking at them..... and when I see JHB then that is not something I'd ever take seriously anyway.

Hilarious piece in the D.Tel.

The National Portrait Gallery couldn't understand why visitor numbers had apparently slumped by 50% over two years. Amid utter consternation and a bit of fast digging, they discovered that the visitor hi-tec automatic counting machine had gone 'wobbly'.

Britain is still working.

Shame !

After discovering a spare pair of my grand-dad's trousers and hob nailed boots, my granny was considering a gender swap and becoming another grand-dad.

You can rely on the Independent.
