No, it's fine thanks John, it enables me to separate patriotism from nationalism and facism and blind and unchecked loyalty, something I'd suggest you could benefit from.

AK, I sense that you are an unlimited reservoir of humane liberalism and compassion directed towards suffering humanity.. I feel that the future of the Green tribe would benefit from plentiful exposure to your liberalism and accordingly have directed Mrs. G to begin packing our miserable chattels before arriving on your doorstep.

That's good news isn't it ? The bad news is that the Green tribe is quite a large tribe and once the 'word' gets out that we have found an idiot - correction - kindly humanitarian who will provide for all our needs - that's you - you could find yourself having to shop around for a larger more comfortable residence in which to house your newly acquired extended family.

You won't have time to criticise the Brexit negotiations, you'll be too busy working like a slave to provide for your newly arrived guests.who besides requiring food and shelter will of course need at least some pocket money for the necessary expatriate comforts of alcohol and drugs.

It goes almost without saying that we will require continual medical care. I'm sure that you're insured. It's not all bad news ! We are, as a tribe, prepared to work and for a lot less than the locals. Minimum wage ? Not us. So the locals don't get the jobs ? Tough cookie. They weren't, apparently, prepared to work anyway.

See you shortly. By the way, I do like the Daily Telegraph delivered every day - and ironed.

Agent K - I really don't know why people lump nationalism together with fascism. If all Hitler had done is put up barbed wire at the border, I doubt his name would have gone down in infamy. I also doubt that mere nationalism would have won him that acclaim either. Let's be sensible about this, border control != holocaust.

"I really don't know why people lump nationalism together with fascism."

Simple! Nobody wants to debate anymore; everyone just wants to demonize others. EMOTION rules public discourse, sad to say, and reason has been banished into the shadows.

Simple, history tells us that one is inextricably linked to and leads to the other, there is no self-regulation of stopping at some arbitary border point. Hitler, Mussolini, Franco, Galtieri etc. etc. etc.....

History does not tell us that at all, that's simply a perverse interpretation of history. It's like saying that socialism is inextricably linked to Stalin, Mao, Le Duan, Kim family and Pol Pot's genocides. Socialism is not Communism and Nationalism is not Fascism. Let's not forget also that the Nazi party was the National Socialist Party, so why do we never link Socialism with Hitler or Fascism?

How does a forest fire start in November anyway?

If there was somebody responsible for starting the fire, it might be.

"How does a forest fire start in November anyway?"

Same way it starts any time of the year I suspect, and sustained by the still hot and dry weather (we're talking Ca. remember?! it's not quite winter there yet.... still with temps in the high 70's and sunny).

I just find it strange how they got through June, July and August with no fire and then, just after things have gotten considerably cooler, a fire.

I think you’ll find there were significant fires throughout summer 2018.

Maybe they need to do something to prevent them. I do not accept the fact that there is nothing that can be done to prevent fires. If a company took that attitude they would find themselves in court very quickly.

Oh I imagine with an amount of landscape management, such as firebreaks, wider scope agricultural management etc. there will undoubtedly be something that could mitigate the risk to a degree. I guess it's a pay off between costs, and preserving the "skyline and look, and implementing fire prevention/reduction strategies.
