-I've looked through my data but cannot identify a loss in the Sound of Mull without any more precise info.

-Probably not the one you are looking for, but there are remains of a Catalina on the Isle of Vatersay connected to Barra.

-Many thanks for the responses - it was in connection with the loss of Cessna 150 G-AVTN in the Sound of Mull in Dec 1975. A diver thought he had found the Cessna but it is reported as being a Catalina instead although there is a big difference in size apart from anything else so I wondered if I could trace the Catalina details to see exactly where it had gone down.

-Maybe this one? Back in 2002 or 03 Royal Navy divers on a coastal mapping mission discovered a wreck in the adjacent Firth of Lorn. At first it was thought to be the missing Cessna but it was later identified as Catalina JX596. It took off at 0905 hours on 12th April 1945 with a South African crew but stalled and looped into the water, the port wing exploding into flames in the process. The crew escaped though one of them sustained serious injuries.

-Many Thanks Scotavia - that looks very promising. I am contacting Brize to try and establish the location.
Mothminor - that also looks like a strong possibility. The link Scotavia has sent states the Sound of Mull but it is v close by

Would anyone be able to tell me where I might find out about Catalina crashes in Scotland? Specifically I am looking for details of a Catalina that supposedly went down in the Sound of Mull although I don’t have any precise details such as the s/n or date?
Many Thanks
