-Does anyone know if it's possible to identify the original purchaser of a sword from its serial number?I've two, one by Hawkes and one by Wilkinson. Neither company exists in the form it was when the swords were made so I'm not sure that they will still have any ledgers that would have been kept at the time of manufacture. I don't think GDPR will be an issue because of the age of the swords.
Well apparently it is now owned by Edgewell Personal Care https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edgewell_Personal_Care .
My suggestion would be to contact them directly because given the historical significance of Wilkinson I would assume that they have retained the appropriate records in some form, either hard copy or digitized.

-Might be worth contacting these folk. https://pooleysword.com/ . They took over the assets ( relating to the ceremonial swords ) of the Wilkinson Sword business back in 2005.

-Or might it be that the companies' records have been deposited with the National Archives and/or the relevant county records offices?
