-I found mention of a Stirling and a Typhoon crashing in the Blandford area. Haven't seen anything Luftwaffe related yet. Any further clues?

Nearest I can find at the moment is this one at Sturminster Marshall He 111H-3, 1G+AC of Stab.II/KG 27 Shot down returning from a mission to Bristol Docks (possibly intercepted at 00.19 hrs by a Hurricane of 87 Squadron). Crew all baled out. Aircraft crashed 02.00 hrs at Sturminster Marshall, near Wimborne, Dorset.

-no, the only clue is a battered saddle drum with a note saying that it came from the Down House Estate, Blandford St Mary

-thank you Richard, that is so close to Blandford St Mary but I don't think the estate would have stretched that far. But I will bear it in mind as the label may not be totally accurate if it wasn't written at the time the item was unearthed, the details of the crash would be accurate.
many thanks, Dave

-A couple of notes to add
Down House was about 1 mile west of Blandford St Mary and estates of the day could well encompass many farms in the surrounding area, so a farm a couple of miles away could well be still part of the 'Estate'
Andy Saunders has a pic of the Do 17 at Nutford Farm in his book Luftwaffe Bombers in the Battle of Britain
The link below should take you to the correct page to vie the pic
