An absolutely epic Vintage Aviator formation of original-powered reproductions of British designs.
I've seen each of them flying previously, but am sad I missed this formation

https://www.facebook.com/ClassicAircraftPhotography/photos/a.280330269712/10156835408184713/?type=3&theater
* Royal Aircraft Factory F.E.2b with 160hp 6-cylinder Beardmore inline engine
* Royal Aircraft Factory R.E.8 with 150 hp R.A.F. 4a V-12 inline engine
* Sopwith Pups x 2 with 80hp Le Rhone rotary engines
* Airco DH.4 with 400hp Liberty V-12 inline engine
* Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5a's x 3 with 180hp Hispano-Suiza V-8 inline engines
* Sopwith Snipe with 230hp Bentley BR.2 rotary engine
It is unlikely that there has been a formation of British WW1 aircraft of this size, all using original engines, since the early 1920's, making this tribute by TVAL during the RAF's 100th Anniversary year a unique event in the past 90 years or so.
Rocketeer, you have summed it up perfectly!
Wow indeed!
That is a truly amazing accomplishment.

A wonderful effort but are all the engines original or are some of them reverse engineered? This is in no way an attempt to play down the work that has gone in to the "fleet".

The RAF 4a and Bentley are new build. Maybe one or two of the others?

Incredible. Listening to the all or nothing rotary engines being blipped in formation.....congratulations to all.

Brilliant thanks, It did revive a memory of watching the arrival and later demonstrations of the Great War Display Team at Abingdon air and country show last year. While the engines are not the same the spectacle was a worthy tribute to a time which nearly became statics, a few films and stills. Well done all who have made big efforts to create these.

I particularly enjoyed their slow and stately progress through the air to say nothing of the sounds of a bygone age.
