Hello kib.

I believe that Doug Arnold's son, David, has kept active in the Warbird world in recent years.

He has been listed on the internet as having connections with Flying A Services, at Earls Colne, England. Hope that is helpful, sorry, I have no more details.

Any Flying A aircraft that may once have been at Earls Colne left during 97/ 98 (I watched them leave) and after a brief stay at Bournmouth ended up at North Weald. By now they may have moved off to Greenham Common. I believe Mr Arnold lives in Monaco.

Although Doug Arnold claimed to be a Spitfire pilot on occasions, he would never commit to which actual unit he served with.

Those quite close to the Warbirds GB operation in the 1970s suggested that his WWII service was actually with RAF boats, maybe Air Sea Rescue or something similar.

Certainly he built up an empire of salvage, military surplus, boats, agregates, dredging that sort of thing post war.

The reference to a boat in Norway is therefore interesting.

Perhaps those close to the restoration of David Arnold's Seafire, who frequent this forum, could forward a private message?

RE: Douglas & David Arnold

Hi,

It seems I am searching for the right person, this Douglas Arnold was here in Sandnessjoen North Norway in 1967 5th of May and bought this ship. And yes he owned 2 sand barges also.

You may contact or tell anybody who can tell me where to find and talk with his son, that my e.mail adress will be ok to use. Or they may call me on telephone at: +4790610026

It might seem a daft question but have you tried Companies House to see if they have a listing for Flying A services? They might have a registered address. Another option to to search G-INFO which is the CAA register website. If you type in one of the regsitrations of what he has left it should either bring up the owner's address or company. I hasten to add that all this information is in the public domain.

David Arnold and his fathers ship

The ships name was M/S Sjona, bought from Norway in 1967 by David Arnolds father , the reason I want to find David Arnold is to find this ships history from when it arriwed UK and if it still float's.
