hi,
I did read somewhere can't remember where now that Wick and Prestwick be used ...but on www.militaryairshows.co.uk they have this, They should start to arrive on 23rd May, Prestwick Airport had an amazingly important part in WW2 and thousands of aircraft came through the airport on their way to war and going home again. The airport remains a fully operational airport 24 hours a day but the management of the airport are also very keen that people can see this once in a lifetime collection of aircraft and have made space available to set up a public exhibition area.

You will be able to see the aircraft at the former HMS Gannet site (entrance through Monkton) on Saturday 25th May. There is also a special evening / night viewing which will allow a limited number of photographers to see all the aircraft in the evening some specially selected aircraft under specially erected floodlights.

Book your place now. https://www.tsia.scot

Profits from the event will help pay for the fuel for these incredible aeroplanes and send them on their way to this final D Day anniversary.

Here are the aircraft which are currently planned to arrive at Prestwick Airport:
1. C-47 Placid Lassie
2. C-47 That's All Brother
3. C-47 D-day Doll
4. C-47 Miss Montana
5. DC-3 Miss Virginia
6. C-47 Virginia Ann
7. DC-3 Flabob Express
8. DC-3 Spirit of Benovia
9. C-47 Betsy's Biscuit Bomber
10. DC-3 Legend Airways
11. DC-3 Pan Am Clipper
12. DC-3 Clipper Tabitha May

fingers and toes crossed everything goes according to plan...
regards,
jack...

Current update - all ten of the Oxford, Connecticut gathered DC-3's/C-47's/C-53's departed this morning, and most have now arrived at Presque Isle, Maine for a fuel stop on their way to Goose Bay, Canada. N47E "Miss Viriginia" has already arrived at and departed from Presque Isle on its way to Goose Bay right now, and N8336C "Spirit of Benovia" is making a direct flight right now straight to Goose Bay. All should be at Goose Bay by this afternoon.

You can track all of them on FlightAware and FlightRadar24:

"Miss Virginia" - N47E
"Spirit of Benovia" - N8336C
"Placid Lassie" - N74589
Historic Flight Foundation's "Pan Am" - N877MG
"Virginia Ann" - N62CC
"Flabob Express" - N103NA
"Betsy's Biscuit Bomber" - N47SJ
"D-Day Doll" - N45366
"Legendary" - N25641
"That's All Brother" - N47TB

Hopefully "Miss Montana" N24320 will be able to get out of Missoula today - it was originally going to be part of the group that was gathered at Oxford, but it has been held up in Montana due to the weather over the past few days.

The DC-3 "Clipper Tabitha May" N33611 has already arrived at Greenland as of yesterday, and may be heading to Iceland today.

It's a pity nobody with US Navy connections considered bringing one DC-3 aka C-47 aka R4D over on the southern route via Newfoundland,Bermuda, Azores, Lisbon, Plymouth UK to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Curtiss NC-4 First Atlantic crossing in May 1919

"Miss Montana" is on its way now, having left Missoula, Montana and on to its first stop on its trek across the US to meet up with the D-Day Squadron.

Does anyone know if these Daks are sticking around in the UK until the September BoB airshow at Duxford?

Commemorative Air Force website says that they are doing some flying in Germany, then appearing at Paris Airshow, then heading home.
I would think it unlikely that any would stay much later, as the weather on the northern route will start to deteriorate by early autumn.

Just seen N47TB tracking south of Liverpool, so looks like heading for Duxford and not choosing to stay at Prestwick for the weekend events.
N8336C is currently off the outer western isles inbound for Prestwick, and N47SJ diverted into the more northerly airport in Greenland yesterday, but is now across Greenland on its way to Iceland. One of the others diverted into same northern Greenland airport on the 20th and is still there, so maybe gone tech?

I believe the aircraft that left Prestwick earlier, is That's All Brother and, is in fact about to land at Coventry

I wonder if she had a problem, so rather than stay at Preswick they elected to depart early to try and get it sorted before they are due at Duxford?

"That's All Brother" is in Coventry for the weekend, visiting the fellow D-Day vet C-47 "Night Fright", which is under restoration to fly, and "TAB" is getting its required 100-hr inspection done there.

"D-Day Doll", "Legend Airways", HFF's "Pan Am", "Placid Lassie", "Miss Virginia", "Flabob Express", "Virginia Ann" and "Betsy's Biscuit Bomber" are all reported now in Prestwick, Scotland, getting ready now for "Daks Over Prestwick" taking place tomorrow.

"Spirit of Benovia" has been in Dublin, Ireland for the past couple days.

"Miss Montana" completed its latest leg of its journey across, today, flying north from Goose Bay to Iqaluit, Canada.

One that hasn't really been on the radar yet, but is yet another of the DC-3's from the US scheduled to participate, is N18121, and it appears to be starting its journey across the US (just landed in North Dakota today, following a two-leg flight from Oregon).

A couple more that are supposedly still to be joining from the US as well: the C-41A N341A and the C-47 N150D.
