So the mystery stop is to be Nellis today. About 1000 miles, wonder if they have that much range or if there'll be a comfort stop at El Paso, Las Cruces or somewhere? Think the longest leg planned was around 570 miles direct, Hong Kong to Da Nang. Remarkably, one of the original planned longest legs was Goodwood to Lossie!
I gather the weather has been bad but looking good today.

Airborne again...
And back at Comanche Ranch, maybe an air test or photo session.

5 minutes ago it was circling about 20 miles South of Flagstaff Az near Sedona at 10,000ft. That's about 200 miles short of Nellis so may be landing for fuel at Sedona.
Edit:
Nope, just resumed towards Nellis without landing. Still headed towards Vegas/Nellis. Should be there around 6pm PST unless they give it the berries & arrive sooner.
Flightaware still has it at El Paso... no flight plan filed, or they chose to hide it if filed.

Orbit at Sedona was around Bell Rock. Approx 580 miles that sector. Tend to forget that the contiguous US is four time zones and yesterday she flew right across Mountain to Pacific and now 8 hours behind us in Blighty.

I'm pleased to say that, for me, the Live Flight Tracker is working in real time. Shows that the Spitfire is airborne and on the way from Las Vegas to, presumably, Santa Monica, CA.

Just passing a place with the apparently unpronounceable name of Zzyzx (formerly Soda Springs!).
Unpronounceable? I 'eard a local yokel pronounce Sussex "Zzyzx" many years ago while I was enjoying a cool pint of cider in a pub near Lewes.
Oops, they are nearly at Barstow now.

That;s just up the road, it's pronounced Ziss zix
Odd that they flew pretty much right over Mojave where they are allegedly scheduled to be on Saturday.
Well crap, given the route this morning I could have seen the damn thing when it passed within 5 miles of my home. Only found out when it was on the ground 70 miles away.

Ta!
Original NV/CA plan was to route Nellis - Fallon - Mojave - Santa Monica - Hayward Exec. Maybe the weather delays may have caused rescheduling of any corporate do's they have arranged with sponsors (if any).

Severe clear, 103deg & drier than a popcorn fart here, should warm up a bit by the weekend though :)
Just realized they completely missed the boat with the Reno races starting on Sept 11th. They missed a couple of other big air shows on the way here too. Warbird Roundup in Idaho was this past weekend.

Today it says it was doing 4knots at 132ft ASL... I'm assuming that's the altitude of the taxiway at SMO...
Edit:
There was no public access at SMO to view the Spit unless you were at the "public observation deck" which is outside the fence... Now they've moved it down the ramp so it can only been seen via binoculars.. So they basically parked it in the middle of one of the biggest Brit ex-pat communities in the US... & no ****** can see it.
Looked at their website. They list Andrew Willis as the Marketing PR & Comms guy. It would appear that he's back in the UK & not actually part of the traveling crew on this jaunt? I can't get any answers from their FB page. Someone is posting for the team, but apparently not reading anyone else's posts. I heard from someone I know at MHV that the Spit is allegedly going to be there at 12.30 tomorrow, but can't get any confirmation of that at all.. & based on their record of by-passing places they were scheduled to go & landing unannounced at places that weren't even on the schedule that I'm not going to waste my time by driving over to Mojave tomorrow on the off chance they might show up.

If it wasn't for this thread i think all mention of it in the UK has pretty much stopped.
