...for those who missed it over at "Modern Military" this October 2019: You may want to read the comments at https://www.key.aero/forum/historic-aviation/new-page-format-sign-troub… and https://www.key.aero/forum/forum-updates-issues/3835408-new-forum-issue… . Yes, the moderators were rather taken aback as well... :-(

Wasteful of screen space (ridiculous layout), naff typefaces, ghastly colours. Whoever designed it should be shot.

Out with the old. In with the new.

I agree with *both* the above posters.

While the old one was a bit of a dinosaur, and had to go, this one needs work.

It does waste screen space in a horrible manner on a regular windows chrome browser, taking far too much room for looking nice and far too little for the content we come for, the words!

I'm certain you guys at key.aero won't just leave it as is, and I see a lot of potential in this upgrade, so keep at it lads!

I take no pleasure in adding to the doom and gloom that has been heaped on the new layout but I have to say I agree with the thrust of readers comments. I actually liked the previous layout.

...see
https://www.key.aero/forum/forum-updates-issues/new-forum-update now.

Work is still in progress.
Also read below:

"not least of all to ensure the longevity and sustainability of the Forum and protect all the important discussions it’s housed over the years. "

Plus:
"As from your feedback, we know we haven't got it all right and we're doing all we can to rectify some critical usage issues thanks entirely to your feedback. "

...better read it for yourselves at

Correct me if I'm wrong but It seems to me that the number of posts on this forum has ...er... plummeted.

I'm not sure that I can offer any constructive crticism except to echo at least one other contributor - appearance needs tweaking a lot. I think a dated appearance has been swapped for something rather crude in appearance. Bit of refining required, methinks. OK, suggest looking hard at font sizes (too big IMO), use of bold and italics (too prevalent IMO) et al

agree completely. Its unbelievably bad. Pretty much un-readable..the quote functionality doesn't work well, the pictures are all sized too small and so much white space being wasted! I also lost my old account saying that my username wasn't activated or was blocked. No idea why..I don't see myself using this forum much with this kind of layout.

PS The above is a quote but the square brackets quote ... /quote command does not seem to be recognised any more

As far as I can make out from the time stamps, only one or two people are now posting each day so you are not on your own.

Terrible update. Better old style forum.

Layout seems somewhat improved. Still suboptimal. About a third of width is wasted on my device on margins around user portraits.

The thread

https://www.key.aero/forum/historic-aviation/new-layout?page=11

seems to be the most active one

asking for and demanding changes to the current lay-out.  Postings are daily.

I suppose most of you have now really noticed that "Military Aviation" is dying off.

The front page/page one at

https://www.key.aero/forum/modern-military-aviation

these days shows several threads with updates of already three weeks ago

When this forum was more active it was only one week.

...

Yup. Things have gone really quiet.

I suspect that the forum started to die when one or more of the moderators began deleting entire threads, throwing away not only the low-grade or even worthless postings that had aroused their ire, but also a substantial amount of useful information that some members had contributed. That was the point where I decided to become a 'lurker' rather than a regular contributor, and I do not think I was the only contributor to do so.

Where should we all go from here ? There has to be another forum we can all jump to. That hardly ever works though ugggghhhhh..

Forums are very unique. There's no way to replace them

To be honest , I thought the forum would pick back up a bit after a few days. This isn't the first forum format change that Ive seen.

But it just hasn't ! It is in a terminal state. Time is running out

Just checking in with the new forum layout.

I am confident GeForce and F16isbest will check in...  ?

Those were the days...

And I'm feeling quite old now.

BTT: Yes the new forum is a trainwreck. I visit many forums, not one uses this layout. There are some established, very good forum softwares, why not just use one of them?

And as I just noticed, the emoticons are terrible.

I just wish the banner at the top would stop moving and remain narrow.

I've found this forum a great source of info for a decade and would hate to see it fizzle out.

Agree totally with clodawg.    The randomly expanding/shrinking banner, among other things, is Really annoying.

Have read some posts suggesting changes I might do to stop this, but why should I have to?
