having spent about three months online flying i have decided to try a virtual airline.
but there are so many and i have no doubt that some are better organised and run than others.

Wondered if any of the forum members had any suggestions as to good ones ?

i am no ace pilot but would like to think competent.

Im wondering also if someone could briefly describe how a virtual airline works. Are there scheduled time you have to be at your computer to fly a route? If your on an international airline, do you have to fly the whole route in real time, say like for 10 hours?

the one I fly for is one f the best around, Im part of the management team so you would expect a bias opinion here but I can assure you it is unrivalled, we have a fantastic exclusive pilot bidding system that no other airline as got, Im the current AFI with this airline and I must say we are a fantastic group with pilots amongst us who are/were real life captains etc

You can find us here Clicky

Have a look and see what you think

Mixtec
I can only tell you how the one Im with works.
Basically you start off as a CAT 1 pilot, you browse the routes for CAT 1 pilots, choose which ones you would like to fly then you bid for them, they then get added to your name in the roster and then you fly these routes at your leisure, basically we require you not to use time acceleration until you reach top of climb then switch it to normal at top of descent, once the route has been done you report your flight time along with fuel burn etc into the automated system and this adds your hrs accordingly, I am a CAT5 pilot here and I fly international long haul and no I dont sit in front my PC for the duration as Id end up with a DVT lol
With this VA if you are inactive for 30 days you get removed from the roster, so you have to do one flight per month which isnt very taxing

Give it a go and see how you go

Only one for me and thats www.bavirtual.co.uk. I'm a senior captain, like Mark L with the VA. You fly realistc BA scheds and you can fly franchise flights kike GB or BMed, and fly all the aircraft in the BA fleet.
BTW there is a long wait to get it:D

I too would like to join a virtual airline. Currently I'm considering VLM or Luxair, as they are both airlines which operate the Fokker 50 into London City, and I would love to have a go at flying that approach with an F50 :D
