Flight Number: XLA4046
Newcastle - Arrecife
Aircraft: B737-800 G-XLAE
Scheduled Departure Time: 17:50
Actual Departure Time: 18:24
Scheduled Landing Time: 22:10
Actual Landing Time: 22:45
Well, it was the day I was waiting for, one of the best holidays I've been on. We parked the cars at the long stay car park at Newcastle Airport and jumped on the bus to the terminal. We checked in half an hour early and made a quick stop at Greggs for some pasties before going to departures! The departure lounge was completey different from when I was last there it was huge and I mean, huge  . Anyway, our boarding cards said to be at Gate 15 for 16:55, which we did and waited for nearly half an hour. We were called to board, we boarded at the back of the plane as our seats were 26 A, B, C and 27 A and B which was about 7 windows from the back. After sitting for 10 minutes, the doors closed and the push back began. But it was all very weird. I noticed all aircraft were departing off runway 25 and we were on stand 8 and we were pushed back so we were facing towards runway 07   . Then we were told by the Captain (who was American) that we were being pushed back to the Northern end of the airport because we had a different time slot to enter the Canarian airspace. So we were sitting on the tarmac for over half an hour when we began to taxi, it had just started raining and we departed off 25 very smoothly. The flight went very slowly in my opinion, the meal was sausage and mash with peas, which wasn't exacty brill like, but it was passable. The in-flight film was Shrek 2 and is very funny :D . Flying over Lisbon, the turbulence was mental, and it was just when I was eating me tea! The sun began to set, sadly we couldn't see it because we were on the left hand side of the plane. 20 minutes before landing, we began our descent in to the Canaries. We flew over Lanzarote, over the north coast of Fuerteventura, and a sharp left turn on to the ILS for runway 03. It was a very bumpy approach, and a very bumpy landing. We taxied to the stand where on the ground I saw: G-GOOK, G-BYAU, G-DHJZ, G-PIDS, G-MONJ, G-BYAR, there was also a My Travel A330 going to Gatwick, and I could'nt get the reg sadly. But all in all, the flight was very nice, very comfy, and the photos should be on here soon! :D
