In a giant operation, a KLM 747, the former PH-BUK, left AMS last night inbound for Lelystad where it is due to arrive early saturday night/morning. Took the pics between 17.30 and 23.50. Then I was frozen and went home. BW Roger

Can I ask what they're doing with it? Static display perhaps?

Can I ask what they're doing with it? Static display perhaps?

Going to be a part of the Aviodrome collection at Lelystad airport. Will be used for static display only. The 747 will join a lot of historic airliners including:

  • The second F27 prototype, static display indoors.
  • The fifth F27. This was the first F27 to be delivered to an airline. It arrived at Lelystad only 2 days ago from Australia and is the latest addition. Officially not part of the Aviodrome but of the FFA Fokker Friendship Association.
  • A flying DC-2.
  • A static DC-2 in bits and pieces spread around a hangar. Not complete I believe.
  • Two static DC-3s, one of them without engines. One inside and the other one outside. It is rumoured that the DDA wants to move to Lelystad too which would add 2 more DC-3s (martinair and Dutch government royal flight liveries)
  • A static DC-4 (actually the military C-## version)
  • A flying L749 constellation.
  • A Fokker F.7, great little plane and original too!
  • A fokker F.2, ful size replica that was completed not long ago.
  • A De Havilland Dove in Martinair livery.

    [*]Cockpit section of a Caravelle.

  • Cockpit demonstrator of the F100. Just a full scale model with no working buttons. Sure looks nice though!

Next to that there are various military types on display, but not sure which ones as I am not really into military aviation. Do remember an MiG-21, Hawker Hunter, BAT FK.23, Fokker DR.1 and some helicopters. Most of the planes at the Aviodrome are civil though.

www.aviodrome.nl There are one or two pages in English but at least for now this is not really extensive. The webmaster did promiss to add more pages in English and German and/or French.
