Nice report. Work on the taxiways??? I wonder what that was. Departures were using 34 last night so I wonder was there an incident on 28 which has become quite recently as of late espeically with the ageing 200s still flying about.
Did you find the SkyCafe to be very overpriced???

Aisle seats are better than being sandwiched in the middle in my book. Still rather have the window, mind.

Aisle seats? That's my worst nightmare..
LOL. I have to have window seats....or I am really miserable especially if it is a trans-atlantic flight.

Yes, SkyCafe is a complete rip off! We seemed to land on runway 28. Thanks for all the comments!

Apologies for never writing a return report. The return flight was good quality on a newer A320 (EI-DEC), though the A320s have boring blue leather seats.

Well they have already started work on extending the departure lounge aswell as building a new exit taxyway off the runway.

Just arrived in Dublin having taken flight EI 275 from Birmingham. Here's a quick review.
Flight: EI 275
From: BHX, scheduled departure 19:30
To: DUB, scheduled arrival 20:30
Aircraft: 735, EI-CDF
The flight was for work purposes, so all expenses paid (doesn't happen too often!!). Arrived at Birmingham at about 18:10 having caught the train to the airport station. Went to check in in Terminal 1 and was pleased to find there were only a couple of people in front of me. Allocated an aisle seat (prefer window seats but no complaints) towards the rear of the aircraft. Boarding was scheduled for 19:10. This was my first visit to Birmingham, so I thought I'd have a quick look around. I saw the Aviation Experience, but due to time constraints didn't have time to visit.
Proceeded straight through security, which was smooth and painless. Arrived in the Terminal 1 departure lounge (seemed to be quite small for an airport of Birmingham's size :confused: ) and awaited the flight. There were few opportunities for photography (although I did get a couple of shots).
The flight was called to gate 59 pier A at 19:15. There was some confusion over our flight and a FR 732 going to Dublin at the same time (to think, I took a 735 but could have been on a 732!!! :mad: ). Upon arrival at the gate, I saw our 735 parked between a WW 733 and a recently arrived KM 320. The FR 732 was parked at the end of the pier.
The boarding process was quickly completed via airbridge. I took my seat and the crew (3 female) went through the usual announcements. The aircraft was tastefully upholstered (green / blue seats with Irish poetry etc embrodered) but looking its age somewhat. Obviously no IFE. Read the safety card and in flight cafe menu.
Flight pushed back at just after 19:45 and taxied to the northwesterly runway. The pilot warned us over the tannoy that due to turbulence we could expect a bumpy, 40 minute flight. At a shade after 19:50, the aircraft was cleared for take off (a long run). We took off and headed on a northwesterly course towards north west Wales (Anglesey), before heading out over the Irish Sea in a westerly direction on course for Dublin. The crew came round with snacks and drinks from the cafe, though I just relaxed by reading and listening to some MP3s.
Some 30 minutes into the flight, the pilot announced that due to work on the taxiways at Dublin, the scheduled arrival for our flight was 20:50 local time, which would involve some time in the air. We headed towards the Irish coast, before heading off in a northerly direction until we were cleared to land.
At 20:35, the aircraft begun its finals into Dublin, where we arrived at approximately 20:45. The landing was fairly shaky but a pretty smooth touchdown followed. After a long wait to reach our allocated stand, we finally parked up at pier A at approx 20:55 and disembarked via the rear doors.
All in all, a stress free, good (though fairly non-eventful) flight.
Flying back to Birmingham on Friday morning on an A320; will post a report asap.
