An enjoyable report, i've been flying for about fifty years and i've never heard of a Captain handing out personal business cards before

I have been a top tier flyer for 9 years, over 300 flights a year. This has never happened to me either. I couldnt believe it myself!
Maybe I should scan the card and post it?? :p

i was given a capain business card called marcus brace who flew for royal airlines and canada 3000 i still have ot to this very day! he gave me it after i sat in the cockpit for about an hour chatting away! i met him on a second flight and he wrote "3 years later" on the back hehe

Although not 1K like you, I'm premier exec and have been so for 5 years, all trips paid for out of my own pocket. Must be nice to travel for business and acquire all the perks. I've never gotten a thank you card. :mad: I'll stop being a hater now...

Many people think the worst part of travelling from ORD are the weather delays. When the weather is nice, my worst nightmare is the Kennedy Expressway from downtown Chicago to the airport. These 20 miles can take from 20 minutes to 2 hours, you never know.
I had a 9:45 AM flight on UA from ORD-EWR in confirmed upgraded first. The weather was nice and the smelly cab taking me through heavy traffic was the only bad part of my day.
After spending an hour in traffic, I finally arrived at terminal 1 at ORD. Checked in on one of the machines, used 1 minute to get through security, had time to get a shoe shine, visit the Red Carpet Club and headed to gate B7 about 20 minutes before departure.
A 737-300 in the old UA livery was waiting at the gate, the flight was only half full and first class only had 5 passengers. We left the gate on time, first in line for runway 22L.
We taxied by terminal 5, looking at all the empty gates waiting for all the flights from Europe to arrive. The only plane docked on T5 was a JAL 747-400, arriving from NRT.
We immediately got cleared for take-off.
After take off, we where assigned flight level 37000 feet, but the ride wasn’t smooth up there, so we settled at 31000, where the ride was calm. The FAs where serving a nice breakfast with a sandwich, yoghurt, banana and cereal with milk. After flying for about an hour, the captain announced that he would have a Captains commentary on channel nine. Of course, I was already on channel nine listening into the ATC. The captain came on and told us about his and the FOs experience, flying hours etc. He also gave an in depth report about the plane with performance, fuel consumption etc. It was a really interesting commentary that went on for about 10 minutes.
After putting the live ATC back on, we started our decent to EWR. ATC advised the captain to keep a lookout to the left for a Falcon Jet descending. I could clearly see the Falcon passing 2000 feet under us.
We were told to expect runway 4R and started to get in line. The flight attendant then handed out a personal business card from the captain to all passengers in First. The captain had handwritten a message on the back of it: “Dear Tommy, Thank you for flying United today, we really appreciate your loyalty. Sincerely, Captain…..”
A nice little touch that took no effort, that made me feel really special.
After a quick decent, we landed at runway 4R 5 minutes ahead of schedule.
