LS782 dep 7.30 arr 8.30
Running a shop means we don't get much spare time but as we are shut on Wednesdays with a bit of planning we can enjoy the occasional day out. This was going to be a few hours in London travelling with Megabus.com for a couple of quid return but after a bit of surfing and coming across the Jet2 website and discovering they flew to Edinburgh with flight times allowing for a full days visit - there was just no contest!
After booking the flights (£18 + £30 taxes/charges each) I then had the problem of getting to MAN for 6.00am public transport not being an option at that time and driving there meant car parking fees of more than the cost of flight. However 5 minutes from home is an airport car storage company and I was able to book a days parking there with transport to the airport (on an Enviro 300- sorry had my bus enthusiast hat on there).

Arriving at T1 about 6.15 we were able to walk straight to the Jet2 check-in desk and with just hand luggage we were checked in with the minimum of fuss - seats 5A/B allocated. The calm of the check in area was a complete contrast to the departures area, there was a very long queue waiting to go through security fortunately there was an airport ops guy there asking if anyone was on a domestic flight and directing us to the Channel Islands and Ireland Fast Track area. Still a bit of a queue but nowhere near as bad as for international departures. After going through security a quick check on the screens led us to gate 20. Quite a few people waiting for the flight mainly business people, my wife and I seemed to be the only 'tourists'.
Just after 7.00 we got onboard a bus to take us to the aircraft G-CELI on stand 82. MAN being very busy at this time and the journey seemed to take quite a while as we waited for taxing aircraft. Boarding was very quick and we pushed back at 7.40, a relatively short taxi to cross 24R then line up and immediate take off from 24L at 7.55. Now sitting on the left of the aircraft and using 24L means that we would fly over our shop in Knutsford although it was a little overcast as Knutsford came into view out came my camera to take the shop - disappeared in cloud - shucks!
Still the flight was smooth and we soon 'burst' through the cloud and we enjoyed a coffee and danish albeit a little rushed as we just about started our descent to EDI by the time we got served.
Landed at EDI at 8.35 just 15 minutes late but in beautiful sunshine the approach giving good views of the city and Firth of Forth.
Excellent time in a super city followed then picked up the Airlink service to the Airport about 3.45pm.

Check-in was a little slower this time though alot more people travelling - again mainly business people. After security just waited at the gate for about 15 minutes before we boarded the aircraft G-CELZ and we were pushing back by 17.25 in the air shortly after and landed at MAN at 18.20. Got a better view of the ground on the return and saw the Solway Firth, Windermere and Morecombe Bay.
All in all an excellent trip, would recommend Jet2 and would certainly fly with them again, Edinburgh is well worth a trip and we may even do it again. Though having checked Ryanairs website a trip to Dublin may be next.
This is my first post so I hope I haven't bored anyone
