Went out to Manchester (AVP) this week, Tueasday was fine, but Thursday was absolutly pouring down, made for some good shots though! The wind shear at 40ft was fun to watch as some of those landing must have been VERY bumpy.

Does anybody know what was up with the BA Dash 8 that required all the emergency services to be prepared? The landing was uneventful, but they did seem to disembark it quickly?

There was also a visitor from th Moroccan Airforce :-)

Lovely shots as usual, you take some great action shots from MAN! :D

My dad might have flown on one of the two Jet2s you shot above, as he flew out to Amsterdam on Thursday.

Thanx for the kind comments!! Just wish it hadn't been such a drab day on the Thursday as all the backgrounds are dull grey

They where all taken with my trusty Canon 20D with the 100-400mm IS Lens.

Only problem with this is that when they Taxi along 'Alpha' infront of the viewing area's I can't take shots, as on the 20D the 100-400 is equivelent to a 160-540 and there's just too much zoom. I don't like changing lenses in the field as I ALWAYS manage to get dust on my sensor

When shooting from the Southside nr the threshold of 24L i use my 17-40mm lens.

Could have been emergency service training? I've seen something similar every time I've been at MAN.

Tell me about the weather, flew out of Ringway on Thursday to Heathrow, lets just say white knuckle ride most of the way, our little A319 was being flung around a wee bit. All due to thunderstorms near the midlands as most flights from Heathrow were running around 2 hours late. And guess what was just as choppy on the way back all good fun though.

Ps

Great shoots.

I didn't have my scanner withme at the time, but another lad their was listening in and he said the Dash8 had delcared some sort of emergeny 20 miles out. For about 10 mins before landing, the stopped all aircraft on the aerodrome, no movement at all!!
