Well after Dan and I ventured up to LHR at 4am last week only to find them using the wrong runway combo we decided we'd try again at the weekend. The wonderful BBC predicted clear skies all morning so it was another early start, the right runway combo in use...but overcast cloud all morning

Nevertheless we both got several nice shots, Dan of course one or two more than me ;)

Ex Korean 742 freighter operating for ElAl now:

After moving to the Touch Down Zone we narrowly missed photographing a Kenyan 777 go around, and a Saudi 747SP touching down. To compensate though Asiana decided to send their newest 777 in place of the far more usual 747:

Next came the once daily Air India 777:

The following morning brought as the three South African Jumbos again:

The inevitable torrent of transatlantic flights:

And of course our favourite BA plane:

Finally my favourite pic of the morning is of the 900th Embraer 145 series aircraft, with a Biman DC10 on finals in the background:

Nice shots Mark, the BBC does frequently get the weather reports wrong on their website. It's showing sunny for BHX at the weekend, maybe I shouldn't keep my hopes up? :D

Don't rely on the BBC to give you accurate information. Their 5-day forecast is a joke. Look at what they say the weather will be like on Saturday and the forecast will say one thing, but Saturday will say something else..

I've relied it on it an awful lot and perhaps shouldn't have.

Great shots anyhow! :)

Very nice shots!
Last winter I checked BBC weather before going to MAN, it said sunny all day, when we got there, it was sunny indeed, untill the afterstorm from a tornado in Yorkshire came.......

Oh well, I liked my Luxair one, but my Jetphotos screener told me it was Overexposed, Undersharpened, Digitally Manipulated, and Bad Quality.

Oh well, thanks for everyone elses comments, as long as some people like them

excellent shots mark.

i want to take myself to heathrow one day in the week and was wondering where i could go to take shots of aircraft landing, taxiing and taking off.

i'll be on foot, and am thinking of getting the tube to hatton cross.
i'll have a 300 mm digital camera lense so i can take relatively distance shots of aircraft.

where can i go?

thanks

Hi Adam. This week in the mornings they are landing 27L, and 27R after 3pm. For 27L you want to walk away from Hatton Cross towards T4, after about 5 minutes there is a large field on the other side of the dual carriageway which is perfect for photography.

In the afternoon you need to walk back towards Hatton Cross, through the maintenance area, to another patch of grass just by a roundabout. Both of these places will probably be inhabited by at least 10 other photographers I'm sure!
