One can only hope they've researched the BFS a bit more carefully than they did the BFS - ORK - remember the embarrassing debacle earlier this year when the route bit the dust before it even got off the ground!

The current A2B to BHD may only be a PA31 but it does operate 2X daily. It does seem a strange time of year to start a route which presumably will be primarily aimed at leisure traffic!

The frequency and timings certainly won't suit the business fraternity. Only time will tell.

What superb news for Blackpool, coming after the FR and ZB routes, Jet2 really are trying to take over the low cost market in the north, good on them!

Heres the official press realase regading the new Jet2 routes from Blackppol Airport see http://www.blackpooltoday.co.uk

It's take-off to sunny Palma
DAILY flights to Majorca and mainland Spain were today unveiled as a major airline revealed it is to fly out of Blackpool Airport.
Tourism bosses are celebrating after Jet2.com announced it will fly from the Fylde to the sun-kissed hotspots of Palma and Alicante – plus a new service to Belfast.
The arrival of the rising player in the budget airline market will create up to 50 new jobs at the Squires Gate terminal.
Today's announcement is another major boost to Blackpool's ever-expanding airport which now has daily and weekly flights to a number of European and domestic destinations.
And Philip Meeson, boss of Bradford-based Jet2.com, promised more routes would be added from Blackpool in the near future.
He said: "I'm delighted Blackpool will now be able to offer truly low cost services to Spain and Ireland.
"We expect huge demands for the flights – in particular to Palma and Alicante which are fantastic destinations.
"Blackpool is fast regaining its reputation as a leading destination.
"The investment the town is experiencing can only help to raise Blackpool's profile overseas."
Jet2.com began flying its low-cost scheduled flights from Leeds-Bradford in February 2003 and has its largest base at Manchester Airport.
The flights to Palma, Alicante and Belfast will start next April and will cost from as little as £9, including taxes.
Mr Meeson added: "Inbound tourism is given a huge boost when low fares are offered to overseas travellers and we are confident that we will see many customers flying into Blackpool from our three new destinations."
Paul Whelan, executive chairman of City Hopper Airports, the owner of Blackpool International Airport, said: "The news that Jet2.com is to base aircraft at Blackpool and operate a variety of passenger flights in and out of here is hugely exciting for us."
Confidence
This is the fourth major destination announcement from the airport this year with flights now departing for Girona, Aberdeen and the Bulgarian resort of Varga. They are due to start flights to Malaga with Monarch Scheduled from November and Amsterdam Schipol.
Mr Whelan added: "The airline's decision is a clear statement of confidence in the future of Blackpool International."
Eddie Collett, deputy leader of Blackpool Council and portfolio holder for tourism and regeneration, said: "This new investment by such a renowned low-cost airline will create local jobs, instil further confidence and enhance Blackpool's profile even further afield."

Jet2 really could become dominant very soon. Good on them.
Too bad their livery is getting slightly boring.

That's A2B of the job now. Can't see them competing with Jet2.

A2B are now British North West and also Euromanx operate the route as well!

Aircraft must come in from LBA or MAN to operate that schedule from november to april!

Yes they do Humberside. Above showed it was BLK based or at least originated from there but on Jet2 its BFS originating so above is wrong (its just tags shud be BFS - BLK then BLK - BFS not other way around) :)

If they are expensive, then they are doing well, if the a/c werent full, they would have to give flights away.

I dont always find them expensive, though I booked my mum and dad on the new Rome flights from LBA last week, they paid under £50 each, a week later the flights were over a £100 each!

Sign they are doing well :).

I said expensive as BFS - LBA is base fare of £37 including tax return (£2.95 under flybe). Same goes to Prague and Barcelona when compared to easyJet services of equivalent length.

BFS to BLK is £18 return which is fantastic for me as I have to go over to Blackpool a fair bit to help organise a big show and usually i have to spend £25 to Dublin and back in car incl. car parking then £22-24 on a cheap FR flight over.

£18 return is over 10 times cheaper than the Belfast City to Blackpool service and I wish them luck.

Think you'll find its more like £39.99 for FlyBe not £2.95 lol!

He meant Jet2's fare is about £2.95 cheaper than Flybe's, not that Flybe's fare is £2.95! ;)

Good news for blackpool. What you mean Jet2 livery getting boring it has to be one of the best LCC liverys around. Ryanair has to be the most boring livery around.

How anyone can call that livery boring is beyond me, I see it (too many) times during every day, and I still think it looks superb.

I agree its a great livery, and actualy quite cleverly designed as well, although I'm not sure if intentional. When the aircraft overfly the city centre, the Jet2 titles on the side are more than clearly visible for anyone looking up. Couple that visible aerial prescence with a huge city wide advertising campaign, and its no wonder its impossible to get a cheap Jet2 flight out of Leeds when you want one!
