-No UK sites planned there which is a bit of a shame. Hopefully we will see her here soon.

-especially since they couldnt have done it without the uk and its numerous major and minor suppliers, on this aircraft, and all other airbus aircraft..........i understand its a 'european' thing.

-Indeed, the UK should enjoy the visit of the 380 (it's my opinion, not a statement). It's the same for Spain, I could say. But I believe Airbus is focusing now on Germany (Hamburg is, like Toulouse, one major link in the FAL chain) and on customer satisfaction.
Next year, Farnborough will surely have one (or more?) A380, then you guys will be proud of it as we are, seeing it flying in your sky. ;)
Talking about UK participation in A380 program, we just received the first Engine Alliance GP7200 engines from the US, to be fitted on one of the next airframe to roll out of Lagardere hall. Soon RR "monopoly" will be over...
It's funny to compare design philosophy in the engine architecture. ;)

-The A380 should be making an appearence at Filton (FZO) sometime. I expect it will be on a weekday so I might have to take the day off school for that... like I did with Concorde and got into trouble for it :diablo: It was well worth it though and I wouldn't think twice about doing it again! :D

-actually working on site at filton, as a structural engineer for the A380 project, I would know if it was going to make a visit, and soo far there has been absolutely no news on that front.

-Similar rumours of a visit to Chester and a flypast at MAN have been doing the rounds on a weekly basis for some time now, coanda.
Strange to relate, it's always the week after next.......

-Its fair enough to say it should come to the UK but isnt LHR the only airport that is able to be used by an A380 as they widened taxi ways etc

-Wouldnt it be hilarious if Antonov followed the A380 tour using their larger An-225? :diablo:

-The A340-600 came to Filton so it would seem strange if the A380 didn't.

-A380 update
This is an update over the status of the A380.
Tigerstift works for Airbus, but he doesn't want to give us more information.
Test aircrafts:
MSN 1002 will be ready in Oktober and will fly to Hamburg for its interior equipment.
MSN 1004 is practically finished and probably next week handover to flightline/flighttest. It remains in Toulouse.
MSN 1007 will take a long period of time to roll out.
MSN 1009 went out of the section assembly to the equipment assembly last week. First flight will we be next year.
Serial production aircrafts:
MSN 1003 and 1005 for SIA are making good progress.
MSN 1006 (SIA) is in the section assembly.
MSN 1008 (SIA) is on its way to Toulouse.

-A380s can use LHR,PIK and MAN(remote stand only) currently. LGW still being sorted out I believe.
Apprently fly past over Hawarden (Chester) and East Midlands (Rolls Royce) are planned. Never heard anything about MAN or Filton

As far as I am aware, the only London airport which the A380 can use at the moment is LHR, but they are considering it at LGW. The only problem is that they [BAA] have just spent loads of money on the construction of Pier 6, the new section to the North Terminal. The views from it are amazing, especially if a 747-400 is going under it at the time, but I have heard rumours that the A380 cannot make it  !
All the same, I agree with everyone else...it should make an appearence in UK, seeings as we contributed to it!

-the a380 can use filton as an operating base.....pretty empty of course!
a340-600 came in for some aero-mods today at lunch time and departed early afternoon.
msn007 is the first passenger aircraft and as such will be incorporating all the mods found by the test fleet, and will be going to hamburg for interior installation as far as I am aware.
grey area.........not even any rumours in our building about any visit by the a380......there will be an announcement throughout the site (as there was today for the 346) when the time is imminent.
incidentally, a klm 737 left air liveries hangar today in a fresh coat of paint.

I think they'd be restricted to the north side at PIK where they service the big Antonov's, C-5's etc..?
I understand the taxiways leading to the terminal aprons aren't quite up to A380 capability yet???

GLA claims it can "get it down, but may not get it up?"
Handling the A380 may mean many things? I'd expect handling to mean an airport can physically accomodate the aircraft and it's passengers in a normal fashion, utilising it's terminal and ancillary services??
I suspect many airports could accept an A380 to varying degrees of comfort.

Yeh Manston can do all off that but there is one problem if there is an A380 on the terminal apron what can handle up to 4 A320 4 Fokker 100 and the 4 737 aircraft well just say there are four parking spots on the apron .If to say there was a A380 on the terminal apron and 4 passager aircraft came into land only two will fit on the apron. They had this problem when 4 eujet plane's landed and a MD-11 world airways was on the terminal apron.
BTW if Don't understand this it cause i am tired and can't think straight lol

Plane-spotters across the world are dusting off their binoculars as Airbus considers the possibility of its giant A380 making a world tour to Frankfurt, Singapur, Sydney and Dubai at the end of October untill November.
In a few days the A380 will have its 100th flight.
On October 29th, the A380 will land in FRA, on November 11th in Singapur, a few days later in Sydney and from 20th until the 24th November at the airshow in Dubai.
Qantas has asked Airbus to send an A380 to its 85th birthday party in Brisbane on November 16, and it is hoped it will make a brief stop in Sydney beforehand.
