Sorry, gang, this will be a half arsed post.

My friend works as a manager at YYZ and told me that Etihad are starting 330 service via Brussells to Toronto this winter, and within a year from now Emirates is commencing 777 service soon to be followed by the A380.

I guess we have a large middle-eastern basin to pool from for passengers. I think they're also trying to bring connections from the US and use Europe as a hub for more flights to the mid-east.

Sorry but I dont believe about the A380 - From no direct services to A380 service soon after launching the route. I dont think that is realistic

Sorry EK are not launching Toronto services, not unless they get a daily service! At the moment 4 days a week was offered. Not good enough.

EY are definately starting. It's appeared on their route map, and looks like it already exists, as if it hasn't started it would be a blue line, not a red one?

Yes, Emirates are definitely starting (at some point in 2006) with 777 service to start to be followed by 380 in due time. source: one of YYZ's managers.

Where did you hear to the contrary, Spotty M. Driver?

Yes thanks Ren. Yup heard it recently at a meeting that EK want to start, but will not until they get rights to daily flights. Its all about yields on the ultra-long haul flights. Daily flights also plug into EK's hub and spoke operation well. The NYC is twice daily from Nov 1st.

But hey, plans change, as they often do round these parts.
