I also remember seeing a Delta tristar which came into GLA on some sort of diversion. My dad came home early from work as he seen it arrive and we cycled the 6 miles to the airport... i was only about 12 :D

Didn't that Pan Am 727 have some payload restrictions?
David
No it was fine, but then it was only going to London if I remember rightly. I suppose for that airport it must have been one of the most unusual visitors. Arrived bringing families to Lockerbie.

That means you just go at the wrong times.
I don't know anything about LBA unfortunately. The most unusual a/c I've seen on the 'net at LBA is BA Tristar.
I swore I saw a Lockheed Hercules last week... It certainly had the tail of a Hercules!

At GCI we have had in a Transavia 737 this year on a business charter.
i never knew guernsey can handle the 737.
At Linton-On-Ouse my local RAF base there has been an L1011 Tristar before, VC10, 707s and BAE146s.
I been there when i went on hoilday to yorkshire it is a great place to see the Shorts Tucano T.1 btw have you visit RAF leeming?
Anyways here at manston we sometime's have the odd 757,767 or the 747 of Air Atlanta for storage, repaints or maintenance. When the airport re-opened a Southern Winds B742 took off and in 1999 a PIA 747-200 was in aswel http://myaviation.net/?pid=00414338
we had alot of VC-10's coming in last week but thats normal now since it's re-opened and apart from that everything else we have in is normal

Elvington Air Museum once had a 737 BBJ2 visiting for the air show in 2003.
Sadly the air show is dire these days, and only get little stupid utterly butterly flights, just wish we had big air shows up here like Farnborough.

We've had 2 747's into my local, EIKN/NOC, which is a quiet regional airport. We got them in before Cork ever had jumbo's!

One I nearly forgot: during the early '80's there was a Hurel-Dubois 34 of IGN based at RTM for a week, to perform aerial mapping duties. Strange aircraft with a huge, I mean HUGE, wingspan. When on the ramp, it was parked with the wings in the length of the parking stand, due to the wingspan being far greater than the length of the fuselage. Interesting aircraft: it's take-off roll was next to nothing, due the loooooooong wings.

No-ones mentioned Heathrow. The movement I like most is the SU Il96's. Now Varig has changed their MD11's for 777's. Thats nice.

I think the most surprising plane I ever saw at Heathrow was an Interflug Il18 in the late 1970's.

AN-124 are becoming regular at DUS, so they do not count.
Apart from some AMS diversion, which always bring 747s and DC-10s and stuff, the most unusual visitor yet was an AN-74.
