-Ever got on an aircraft and felt more than slightly nervous about the flight ahead?Reminds me of stories about Invicta Airlines from Manston where you could watch the rivets revolving in the wings if the rivets wern't missing! :D

Don't be nasty about the old girl. She's getting on a bit you know. Must be about 16 by now.
I used to work on her as G-BOPK when Air Europe briefly leased her in from Novair as extra capacity. That would have been in about 1990 and she would have been about a year old then (and spotless). I guess the yellow comes from her time at Pegasus/Futura.

-i always feel a bit nervy on leased planes. don't know why but just one of those unexplainable things. i always think they never get maintained. Also planes that aren't in the normal livery - e.g. G-OOOG of First Choice or TF-ELA of Jet2.com

-Probably a little bit too late to feel nervous about the flight ahead, but when the air conditioning vent fell off and onto my lap during takeoff earlier this year, I was a little concerned.

-Primair Tu134 (RA-65097) - first flight on type in 2003, aircraft had not been used for a while, sat by main door, (lot of wind noise) + ice buildup on screw heads (inside) + sedate performance on take off. Approach was different in that flaps / gear were dropped at same time followed by a serious amount of power to arrest the rate of plummet caused by flap/gear - so much power was applied I did think we were going round. Relief at being on the ground followed by a realisatin that to get back to Moscow we would have to have another 2 hours on that aircraft! (land at DME in thunderstorm - never know that 134's were cleared for aero's!)

-LZ-AND An-24 Balkan Bulgarian SOF-BOR-SOF the return journey being through the edge of a rather large series of thunderstorms... It was due to be the last week of Ants on that run as the first of the replacement ATRs had turned up. The airline went belly up not long after that.

-The only time I can think of is when I was returning from FAO to LGW with GB airways on an A320 a couple of years ago. When boarding there was something leaking underneath the aircraft, which made me feel a little nervous. What made it worse was when we got on board and we got a free newspaper given and the front page story was two airliners in near miss over London!
Also that made me think "what's going on?" was when all other flights to the UK and other countries were leaving on time apart from mine, and that was delayed by 1hr.

Don't worry Tom, that was most likely the sinks in the toilets draining overboard after use. It's standard on Boeings and Airbus's. Never walk under one of the drains when doing a walk round. You only ever do that once, trust me!

It could have been the interior window like what happened on the Astraeus 733 G-STRB that I flew on from LBA to LCA this year! That was a mess. Was in flybe colours and only had one of the toilets working and the a/c didn't work fully! Nice plane to be on for nearly 5 hours.

-I flew with Excel from Newcastle in August and I had the same sort of experience, the aeroplane was an Excel plane, but it was old and tatty, and not to mention we were delayed by over 10 hours.

Only time ever (in 30+ flights) was just last month, flying Rhodes->Newcastle with Excel Airways. For some reason the Islandsflug XLA branded 737-400 that took us out there didnt return to take us back (despite it being NCL based). This horror turned up instead! Yellow walls and ceilings, ripped seats, broken tray tables and overhead lockers that randomly burst open during taxiing. great!!! :D
