Eastern Airways will introduce its first ever international flights from Southampton International Airport to Brussels with a schedule suited for Southern business travellers.

The full service UK regional airline, will succeed VLM Airlines on the route from 1 November 2005 and offer improved timings with two flights each weekday to benefit Hampshire based travellers heading to the European Union capital.

An aircraft will be based at Southampton enabling the airline to depart from the airport at 7.10am and 5.50pm, arriving in Brussels at 9.30am and 8.10pm local time respectively. Return services will depart Brussels at 10.10am and 8.40pm landing in Southampton at 10.30am and 9pm local time.

“We are very pleased to be launching our first ever services from Southampton to Brussels,” said Richard Lake, Eastern Airways’ managing director. “There have traditionally been strong business links between the two cities and we have moved quickly to ensure the continuation of this service with an enhanced business schedule for Southampton travellers.”

David Cumming, managing director for Southampton International Airport, said: “This service is strategically important for the region and Eastern Airways’ decision to fly the route was crucial as it enables business links to continue and prosper. We are delighted to welcome Eastern onto the Brussels route and I’m sure this news will be welcomed by the business community.”
